OHL Roundup: A look at Saturday's games @NHLdotcom

Good luck beating the Plymouth Whalers on their home ice ?especially if you play for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.

J.T. Miller scored twice and set up one more as the Whalers shutout the visiting Greyhounds 8-0 on Saturday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Plymouth has now earned points in 20 of 23 home games this season and have beat Sault Ste. Marie three times in as many tries, outscoring them 20-3 in the process.

Rickard Rakell also scored two goals for the Whalers (31-12-3), Stefan Noesen had a goal and two assists while Alex Aleardi, Beau Schmitz and Andy Bathgate each had a goal and an assist.

Scott Wedgewood made 32 saves for his third shutout of the season as Matt Murray allowed all eight goals on 37 shots through the first two periods.

Jack Cambell played the third and stopped all six shots he faced.

Plymouth went 3 for 7 on the power play while Sault Ste. Marie went 0 for 6.

Elsewhere in the OHL, it was: Peterborough 2, Erie 1 (OT); Sudbury 4, Niagara 3; Kitchener 5, Belleville 4; Oshawa 11, Kingston 3; Barrie 4, Guelph 2 and London 6, Owen Sound 5 (SO).

At Plymouth, Mich., Aleardi opened the scoring 2:38 into the game to give the Whalers a 1-0 lead.

Rakell and Miller scored 1:17 apart and Bathgate scored at 17:12 to give Plymouth a four-goal advantage after 20 minutes of play.

The second period was all about special teams as the Whalers scored four more times to double their lead, three goals by way of power play.

Miller's second of the game came with the man advantage at 4:38, Schmitz scored a power-play goal 44 seconds later, and Rakell's second goal of the game came a man up as well at 10:02.

Noesen added an even-strength goal at 13:35 to make it 8-0.

Cambell took over in the Greyhounds' goal for the third period and stopped Plymouth from adding anymore goals to their lead.

At Erie, Pa., Lino Martschini scored 3:08 into overtime as Peterborough (21-18-3) handed the Otters (5-36-3) their 10th straight defeat.


Wolves 4 IceDogs 3

At St. Catharines, Ont., Michael Sgarbossa and Joshua Leivo had four points apiece as Sudbury (24-15-3) snapped the IceDogs (27-14-3) six-game winning streak.


Rangers 5 Bulls 4

At Belleville, Ont., Ryan Murphy had a goal and two assists and Franky Palazzese made 38 saves as Kitchener (30-12-1) edged the Bulls (22-21-1).


Generals 11 Frontenacs 3

At Oshawa, Ont., Boone Jenner scored three times and eight Generals' (20-21-4) players recorded multi-point games in a win over Kingston (12-29-4).


Colts 4 Storm 2

At Barrie, Ont., Mark Scheifele scored the game winner 6:35 into the third period as the Colts (24-17-3) doubled up Guelph (18-19-5).


Knights 6 Attack 5 (SO)

At Owen Sound, Ont., Seth Griffith scored the winner in the shootout as London (34-9-1) picked up its fourth straight win by defeating the Attack (22-18-6).
