OHL Roundup: A look at Saturday's games @NHLdotcom

Saginaw goalie Jake Peterson stopped 46 of the 47 shots he faced as the Spirit blasted the Peterborough Petes 9-1 in Ontario Hockey League action at the Peterborough Memorial Centre on Saturday.

Despite being outshot 47-40, Saginaw (4-8-0) dominated the score-sheet from start to finish as they led 2-0 after the first period and 4-0 after the second.

John McFarland was their top scorer with two goals and an assist while seven other Spirit players added singles. Vladim Khlopotov, Dalton Young, Jamie Oleksiak, Anthony Camara, Ryan O'Connor, Brandon Saad and Sam Povorozniouk were the other scorers.

Joey West was the lone goal scorer for Peterborough (6-4-2).

The victory was Saginaw's third in a row while the Petes lost for the third straight time.

Elsewhere in the OHL, it was: Ottawa 4, Erie 1; Niagara 4, Plymouth 0; Belleville 4, Sarnia 3; Sudbury 5, Oshawa 2; Barrie 6, Kingston 1 and Sault Ste. Marie 7, Owen Sound 4.

At Peterborough, Ont., Saginaw jumped out to a 2-0 first period lead with goals from Povorozniouk and Oleksiak.

The Spirit would double their lead to 4-0 in the second period when Khlopotov and McFarland each addes singles.

Although they had a four goal lead, Saginaw didn't let up as Camara scored just 1:37 into the third period.

The Petes would finally get on the board less than a minute later with a power-play goal from West but that was all the scoring Peterborough had before allowing four more goals.

Young, Saad and O'Connor each scored before McFarland rounded out the scoring withhis second goal of the game.

Peterborough's Matthew D'Agostini surrendered all nine Saginaw goals.

At Erie, Pa., Petr Mrazek made 22 saves leading Ottawa to victory over Erie.


IceDogs 4 (5-6-1), Whalers 0 (5-5-2)

At St Catharines, Ont., Mark Visentin made 30 saves for his second shut-out of the season as Niagara beat Plymouth.


Bulls 4 (6-5-0), Sting 3 (9-2-2)

At Sarnia, Ont., Adam Payerl scored two goals and Carter Sandlak scored the winner in the shootout as Belleville beat Sarnia.


Wolves 5 (4-5-1), Generals 2 (6-5-2)

At Oshawa, Ont., Josh Lievo scored a hat trick leading Sudbury to victory over Oshawa.


Colts 6 (6-4-1), Frontenacs 1 (1-10-2)

At Barrie, Ont., Steven Beyers had two goals and Dylan Smoskowitz chipped in a goal and two assists as Barrie beat Kingston.


Greyhounds 7 (8-4-0), Attack 4 (6-8-0)

At Owen Sound, Ont., Andrew Fritsch and Brett Findlay each had three points as Sault Ste. Marie downed Kingston.
