OHL Roundup: A look at Friday's games @NHLdotcom

It came down to the final weekend, but every playoff spot in the Hockey League is finally spoken for.

Garret Sparks turned away all 28 shots he faced as the Guelph Storm blanked the visiting Owen Sound Attack 4-0 on Friday.

With his fifth shutout of the season, Sparks and his Guelph club secure the eighth and final playoff position in the Eastern Conference.

Depending on how the Windsor Spitfires finish the season, Guelph could finish as high as seventh.

Hunter Garlent scored twice and set up one more for the Storm (30-31-6), who beat out the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds for the final spot in the East. Scott Kosmachuk had a goal and an assist and Zack Mitchell added a single goal.

Gemel Smith and Cameron Brace were both minus-3 for the Attack (32-28-7), who fell to seventh in the West.

Jordan Binnington made 30 saves in a losing effort.

Guelph went 1 for 6 on the power play as Owen Sound failed to score on six chances with the man advantage.

Elsewhere in the OHL, it was: London 3, Sarnia 2; Saginaw 5, Windsor 1; Belleville 4, Kingston 3 (SO); Kitchener 5, Erie 1; Mississauga 4, Barrie 3 (OT) and Ottawa 6, Sudbury 4.

At Guelph, Ont., after a scoreless first period, the Storm scored three straight goals in the second for a 3-0 lead after 40 minutes of play.

Mitchell scored at 10:08, Kosmachuk followed him up at 14:49 and 30 seconds later Garlent scored his first of the night.

Garlent added one more goal, by way of power play, at 6:44 of the third period.


Knights 3 Sting 2

At London, Ont., Michael Houser tied the single-season record for wins with 46 as the Knights (48-18-1) slipped past Sarnia (33-27-7).


Spirit 5 Spitfires 1

At Saginaw, Mich., Josh Shalla scored in the first period to become the Spirit's all-time goals leader with 119 as Saginaw (32-27-8)downed Windsor (29-31-7).


Bulls 4 Frontenacs 3 (SO)

At Kingston, Ont., Adam Payerl scored the winner in a shootout and Brady Austin scored twice in regulation as Belleville (34-32-1) handed the Frontenacs (19-40-8) their eighth straight loss.


Rangers 5 Otters 1

At Kitchener, Ont., John Gibson turned away 49 of 50 shots, Tobias Rieder scored two goals and Ryan Murphy had four assists as the Rangers (42-22-2) beat Erie (10-51-6), which has lost seven games in a row.


Majors 4 Colts 3 (OT)

At Mississauga, Ont., Stuart Percy scored the game-winning goal in overtime and added an assist as the Majors (32-27-7) edged Barrie (40-22-5) for their fourth straight win.


67's 6 Wolves 4

At Ottawa, Tyler Toffoli scored twice and Petr Mrazek stopped 41 shots as the 67's (40-18-8) picked up their first win in three outings by beating Sudbury (35-25-6).
