OHL Roundup: A look at Friday's games @NHLdotcom

Brandon Maxwell made an immediate impact in his debut with the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors.

The overage netminder, acquired in a trade with the Sarnia Sting earlier in the day, made 40 saves to lead his new team to a 3-2 shootout victory over the visiting Brampton Battalion in Ontario Hockey League action Friday.

"I thought Maxwell was great," said Majors head coach James Boyd. "He made some really good saves and showed his experience."

Jordan Mayer scored the shootout winner for Mississauga (18-15-5), while Jamie Wise and Sergey Kuptsov had goals in regulation.

Barclay Goodrow scored twice for Brampton (22-10-6), which has earned a point in 10 straight games.

Battalion goalie Matej Machovsky made 36 saves in a losing effort.

The Majors scored once on six power-play opportunities, while the Battalion went 1-for-4 with the man advantage.

Brampton captain Sam Carrick extended his career-high point streak to nine games with an assist on Goodrow's opening goal. He's registered seven goals and eight assists over that span.

Elsewhere in the OHL, it was: Sarnia 4, Erie 0; Niagara 4, Owen Sound 3 (SO); Saginaw 8, Guelph 3; Peterborough 6, Kingston 4; Oshawa 6, Kitchener 3; Ottawa 7, Belleville 2; Windsor 5, Sault Ste. Marie 3; and London 4, Sudbury 1.

At Mississauga, Ont., after a scoreless first period, Goodrow scored on the power play at 14:03 of the second to give Brampton a 1-0 lead.

Wise responded with a power-play goal four minutes for the Majors before Goodrow and Kuptsov exchanged goals 39 seconds apart in the third period.

After a scoreless overtime, Mayer scored the winner in the shootout.

Sting 4, Otters 0

At Erie, Pa., Ryan Spooner scored twice and set up another and JP Anderson made 30 saves in their debuts with Sarnia (20-14-5) as the Sting beat the Otters (5-31-2).


IceDogs 4, Attack 3 (SO)

At St. Catharines, Ont., Andrew Agozzino had a goal, an assist and the shootout winner as the IceDogs (22-13-3) edged Owen Sound (18-17-5).


Spirit 8, Storm 3

At Saginaw, Mich., Josh Shalla and Michael Fine each had two goals and two assists as the Spirit (17-20-2) crushed Guelph (15-17-5).


Petes 6, Frontenacs 4

At Kingston, Ont., Andrew Yogan scored twice and set up two more to lead Peterborough (18-15-6) over the Frontenacs (11-24-4).


Generals 6, Rangers 3

At Kitchener, Ont., Andy Andreoff and Sebastian Uvira scored two goals each as Oshawa (18-18-4) picked up its fifth straight victory by doubling up the Rangers (25-11-1).


67's 7, Bulls 2

At Ottawa, Dalton Smith scored three times and Tyler Toffoli had a goal and four assists as the 67's (23-10-5) beat Belleville (21-16-1).


Spitfires 5, Greyhounds 3

At Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., Chris Marchese scored a pair of first-period goals for Windsor (18-19-4) in a victory over the Greyhounds (18-19-4) that snapped a five-game losing streak.


Knights 4, Wolves 1

At Sudbury, Ont., Andreas Athanasiou scored once and set up two more as London (29-8-1) picked up its fourth straight win by defeating the Wolves (20-13-3).
