OHL Roundup: A look at Friday's games @NHLdotcom

Mark Hunter's coaching debut with the Knights was a smashing success as London shut out the Saginaw Spirit 6-0 on Friday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Seth Griffith led the Knights with two goals and an assist while Max Domi, Ryan Rupert, Dane Fox and Jared Knight each had one goal and an assist to round out London's scoring.

Michael Houser turned aside 37 shots, picking up his third shutout of the season.

Saginaw's Tadeas Galanksy allowed four goals on 16 shots before being relieved in the second period by Jake Patterson, who stopped 20 of 22 shots.

The Knights went 2-for-3 on the power play as the Spirit failed to score on their lone opportunity with the man advantage.

Elsewhere in the OHL, it was: Barrie 4, Erie 3 (SO); Ottawa 4, Windsor 3 (OT); Plymouth 4, Sault Ste. Marie 3 (OT); Owen Sound 4, Guelph 1; Belleville 8, Kingston 1; Kitchener 3, Mississauga 2; Oshawa 8, Sarnia 4 and Sudbury 4, Brampton 0.

At London, Ont., Mark Hunter was named head coach of the Knights after his brother Dale left the organization to coach the Washington Capitals.

Although it's Mark Hunter's first victory with the Knights, he has 158 wins with the Sarnia Sting, who he coached between 1994-2000.

Griffith opened the scoring at 4:48 of the first period and Fox followed him up with a goal at 7:05, giving the Knights a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes of play.

Domi scored on the power play at 3:51 of the second period and Griffith scored his second of the game less than two minutes, forcing Patterson to take over for Galansky in the Saginaw goal.

Before the period was through, Rupert added another to make it 5-0 Knights heading into the second intermission.

Knight added a power-play goal at 4:51 of the third period to make it a 6-0 final for London.


Colts 4 Otters 3 (SO)

At Erie, Pa., Steven Beyers scored once in regulation and the winner in a shootout as Barrie (14-10-3) defeated the Otters (3-23-1).


67's 4 Spitfires 3 (OT)

At Ottawa, Dalton Smith scored in overtime and Petr Mrazek made 24 saves as the 67's (16-7-4) beat Windsor (13-13-4).


Whalers 4 Greyhounds 3 (OT)

At Plymouth, Mich., Garrett Meurs scored the tying goal late in the third period and then added the game winner in overtime to lift the Whalers (18-8-3) over Sault Ste. Marie (14-11-3).


Attack 4 Storm 1

At Guelph, Ont., Mike Halmo scored three times and Jordan Binnington made 35 saves as Owen Sound (15-11-4) beat the Storm (12-10-4).


Bulls 8 Frontenacs 1

At Kingston, Ont., Austen Brassard, Daniil Zharkov and Adam Payerl each scored twice as Belleville (18-9-0) crushed the Frontenacs (7-17-4).


Majors 3 Rangers 2

At Kitchener, Ont., Riley Brace had a goal and an assist for Mississauga (13-11-4), who defeated the Rangers (18-8-1).


Generals 8 Sting 4

At Oshawa, Ont., Christian Thomas scored three times and assisted on two others as the Generals (12-14-4) defeated Sarnia (16-7-5).


Wolves 4 Battalion 0

At Brampton, Ont., Joel Vienneau made 24 saves and Michael Sgarbossa scored twice as Sudbury (14-10-1) shut out the Battalion (14-10-4).
