O'Brien scores twice, including game-winner as Thunderbirds beat Giants @NHL

KENT, Wash. - Jim O'Brien scored twice, including the game-winner at 11:58 of the third period on a power play, to lead the Seattle Thunderbirds to a 3-2 Western Hockey League victory over the Vancouver Giants on Sunday.

Seattle goaltender Calvin Pickard stopped 40 shots for the T-birds.

The win was the second straight for Seattle over Vancouver.

O'Brien opened the scoring for Seattle (30-29-1-3) with his 22nd goal of the season at 3:42 of the first period. James Henry evened it for Vancouver (49-7-1-3) with a power-play goal at 11:17 of the period.

Evander Kane gave the Giants the lead with his 40th goal of the season before Jeremy Boyer tied it for Seattle by scoring on a penalty shot at 4:02 of the third period.

Vancouver backup goaltender Jamie Tucker lost for the first time in regulation this season. The win lifted Seattle to 13-3-0-0 at the new ShoWare Center in Kent and 20-7-0-1 at home this season.
