Nurse still with Oilers, hopes to stick with team

by Staff

Edmonton Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse didn't make it until the final week of September last year, when he was hoping to make the team as an 18-year-old.

But with the Oilers four days away from opening the 2014-15 season against the Calgary Flames at Rexall Place, the first-round pick from 2013 (No. 7) is still with Edmonton and could be on the verge of making his NHL debut.

"It's definitely exciting," Nurse told the Oilers website Sunday. "With that said, it's just another step. I think to get to this point I'm really happy with the way I went through camp and the way I played, but there's always room for improvement. I think that's definitely something I'm going to focus on, continuing to get better every day, have fun and work hard."
