Nugent-Hopkins gets first WHL hat trick as Rebels overthrow Brandon 6-3 @NHLdotcom

BRANDON, Man. - Rookie Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored his first Western Hockey League hat trick as the Red Deer Rebels beat the Brandon Wheat Kings 6-3 on Friday night.

Former Wheat King Nathan Green and Willie Coetzee each had a goal and two assists for the Rebels (3-3-0-0). Jordie Deagle scored the other Red Deer goal.

Scott Glennie notched a goal and two assists for Brandon, while Jordan Hale and Jay Fehr also scored for the Wheat Kings (3-2-0-0).

Netminder Kraymer Barnstable stopped 20 shots for the Rebels in his first start of the season. Brandon goalie Andrew Hayes, who had shutouts in each of his three previous starts, made 34 saves.
