Novi, Mich., unveils Nick Lidstrom Drive

by Bill Roose
For years, Detroit Red Wings captain Nicklas Lidstrom has been turning onto Arena Drive to take his four sons to Novi Ice Arena. The next time he does, he will be turning onto a street named in his honor.

The city of Novi, Mich., where Lidstrom and his family reside during the hockey season, officially unveiled Nick Lidstrom Drive on Thursday. In a ceremony held outside the arena, Mayor David Landry and members of the Novi Youth Hockey Association welcomed Lidstrom and his family.

"This is our way of honoring a member of our community," Landry said. "He’s a family man, he’s a husband, he’s a father. Hard work, teammate, excellence -- those are the kinds of values that we hold high in Novi, and that’s why we’re happy to honor Mr. Lidstrom."
