With time winding down, two quick goals gave the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds a chance to steal a win, and Jordan Nolan finished the job.
Nolan's goal 3:09 into overtime completed the Greyhounds' 5-4 comeback win over the Plymouth Whalers in Ontario Hockey League action Saturday.
Plymouth held a 4-2 lead late in the third period, but Sault Ste. Marie captain Matt Lyall scored his 11th goal of the year with 84 seconds to go in regulation to bring his team within one.
Dylan King potted the tying marker 54 seconds later to send the game to overtime as the Greyhounds (12-10-1-0) improved to 4-3-0-0 in November.
Matt Caria assisted on both the tying and winning goals, giving him 20 assists so far this season. He leads Sault Ste. Marie in scoring with 29 points.
Elsewhere in the OHL, it was: Belleville 3, Sarnia 2; Kitchener 3, Kingston 2; London 5, Erie 2; Niagara 5, Sudbury 4; Peterborough 4, Owen Sound 3 (SO); and Saginaw 5, Barrie 2.
At Plymouth, Mich., Anthony Peluso and Cameron Odam also scored regulation goals for the Greyhounds, who got 35 saves from Bryce O'Hagan.
Jeremy Smith made 26 saves for the Whalers (7-12-3-0), who got goals from Beau Schmitz, Tyler Seguin, Kaine Geldart and Patrick Lee.
Bulls 3, Sting 2
At Belleville, Ont., Cory Tanaka's shorthanded marker midway through the third period lifted the Bulls over Sarnia.
Nick Palmieri had a goal and an assist and Andy Bathgate also scored for Belleville (17-6-2-2). Eric Tangradi and P.K. Subban added two assists each.
Jordan Hill and Justin DiBenedetto replied for the Sting (11-11-1-1).
Rangers 3, Frontenacs 2
At Kitchener, Ont., Scott Timmins scored his second goal of the game on the power play late in the third period to lead the Rangers past Kingston.
Micky Sartoreto had the other goal for Kitchener (11-10-1-1), while Chris MacKinnon assisted on both of Timmins' goals.
Josh Brittain scored twice for the Frontenacs (6-14-4-1).
Knights 5, Otters 2
At Erie, Pa., Kale Kerbashian had a goal and an assist, while Mike Yovanic and Jared Knight added two assists apiece as London downed the Otters.
Colin Martin, Kevin Montgomery, Justin Taylor and Vladimir Roth also scored for the Knights (19-5-0-1), who extended their winning streak to eight games.
Sean Jones and Andrew Yogan found the net for Erie (11-12-1-0).
IceDogs 5, Wolves 4
At St. Catharines, Ont., Chris DeSousa scored a pair of third-period goals and added an assist as the IceDogs edged Sudbury.
Alex Pietrangelo had a goal and two assists, Matt Piva had a goal and an assist and Mathew Sisca added a goal for Niagara (9-9-4-4). Josh Day had three assists.
John Kurtz, Matt Dias and Marcus Foligno each scored a goal and an assist for the Wolves (10-10-1-1). Kyle Tarini also scored.
Petes 4, Attack 3 (SO)
At Owen Sound, Ont., Ryan Spooner scored the deciding goal in a shootout as Peterborough outlasted the Attack.
Spooner also had a goal and an assist in regulation for the Petes (12-14-0-1), as did Pat Daley. Tony Romano had the other goal.
Joey Hishon recorded a goal and two assists for Owen Sound (8-10-4-2). Andrew Wilkins and David Kolomatis also scored.
Spirit 5, Colts 2
At Barrie, Ont., T.J. Brodie scored and added four assists to power Saginaw past the Colts.
Jordan Skellett, Jack Combs, Joe Underwood and Chris Chappell added goals for the Spirit (15-7-0-1), who were 3-for-6 with the man-advantage.
Alex Hutchings and Mitch Lebar replied for Barrie (10-13-1-1).
