No physical activity or timetable yet for Malkin

SUNRISE, Fla. -- Pittsburgh Penguins coach Dan Bylsma said Tuesday that star forward Evgeni Malkin is still refraining from physical activity while he recovers from a concussion sustained in Friday night's 3-1 victory against the Florida Panthers.

Bylsma said there was no timetable as to when Malkin could start skating again.

"There's not a specific schedule for that right now in terms of physical activity," Bylsma said. "The protocol and resting with a concussion, he's following that right now."

Malkin, who won the Hart Trophy as the League MVP last season, was injured in the third period Friday night when he fell to the ice after a hard hit by Florida defenseman Erik Gudbranson and his head banged violently against the end boards.

The Penguins on Monday placed Malkin on injured reserve and he did not accompany the team on its three-game road trip, which begins Tuesday night at Florida.
