Niederreiter fined $5,000 for actions in Hurricanes game

Forward punished for goaltender interference against Predators' Saros

NEW YORK - Carolina Hurricanes forward Nino Niederreiter has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for interference against Nashville Predators goaltender Juuse Saros during NHL Game No. 52 in Nashville on Tuesday, March 2, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 4:50 of the first period. Niederreiter was assessed a minor penalty for roughing.

The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
