Niittymaki answers the call for Sharks

NHL.com @NHL
The San Jose Sharks said goodbye to Evgeni Nabokov last week and Thursday welcomed Antero Niittymaki to town as their new No. 1 goalie. Niittymaki, 30, enjoyed a solid season for the Tampa Bay Lightning last season, compiling a 21-18-5 record with a 2.87 goals-against average and .909 save percentage in 49 appearances with the Bolts.

In Tampa Bay meanwhile, the Lightning turned to Dan Ellis, the former Nashville Predator whose right had been traded to the Montreal Canadiens last week.

Another former Predator, Chris Mason, also has a new home, signing with the Atlanta Thrashers after moving on from the St. Louis Blues. Veteran Thrasher Johan Hedberg also has a new home, signing on as Martin Brodeur's backup with New Jersey.

Here is a look at all the goaltending moves made Thursday:

Antero Niittymaki Sharks' main man

Dan Ellis home on the Bay

Chris Mason now a Thrasher
