OTTAWA - Anthony Nigro had two goals and two assists as the Ottawa 67's defeated the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors 7-2 in Ontario Hockey League playoff action Friday night.
Tyler Toffoli scored and added three assists for the 67's, who scored four times less than six minutes apart in the second period to break a 2-2 tie. Corey Cowick, Dalton Smith and Ryan Martindale each had a goal and an assist. Shane Prince had the other goal for Ottawa, while Petr Mrazek made 26 saves.
Casey Cizikas and Riley Brace replied for Mississauga. Chris Carrozzi started in goal and allowed six goals on 26 shots. JP Anderson played the third period and allowed one goal on 13 shots.
The OHL Eastern Conference semifinal series is now tied 1-1 with Games 3 and 4 set for the Hershey Centre in Mississauga on Sunday and Tuesday.
"I don't think they came into this series with very much respect for us," Nigro said. " 1/8Last game 3/8 we were getting the chances, we just weren't getting the bounces. Tonight we were."
Special teams played a big role in the game as the 67's went 4-for-9 on the power play. The Majors were 0-for-5.
"The score didn't matter. The only thing that matters is the series is 1-1," said Ottawa's coach Chris Byrne. "Now we have to go into their rink and try and get home ice back."
