Nielsen scores twice, De Serres stops 22 shots as T-birds blank Bruins @NHL

SEATTLE - Lindsay Nielsen scored twice to lift the Seattle Thunderbirds to a 2-0 victory over the Chilliwack Bruins in the final Western Hockey League game scheduled at KeyArena.

The T-birds, who played at KeyArena for 13-plus seasons, will open the new ShoWare Center in Kent on Saturday against the Everett Silvertips.

After a scoreless first period, Nielsen scored his first goal at 16:47 of the second period. Neilsen added his sixth goal of the season at 7:36 of the third period for Seattle (15-19-1-2).

Seattle goaltender Jacob DeSerres stopped 22 shots to pick up his first shutout of the season. The loss dropped Chilliwack to 11-24-3-3 on the season.

The T-birds played the first sporting event at KeyArena in October of 1995.
