Nicholls with two goals and an assist to lead the Blades over the Broncos 5-3 @NHLdotcom

SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. - Josh Nicholls had two goals and an assist as the Saskatoon Blades defeated the host Swift Current Broncos 5-3 on Friday in Western Hockey League action.

Matej Stranksy scored once and set up two more for the Blades (40-28-3), who sit fifth in the Eastern Conference, while Connor Cox and Nick Zajac added a single goal each.

Taylor Vause had a goal and two assists for the Broncos (26-37-8), who sit 10th in the East, and Reece Scarlett and Brad Hoban scored the others.

Andrey Makarov made 30 saves for the win while Jon Groenheyde turned away 24 shots in defeat.

Saskatoon went 2 for 7 on the power play as Swift Current scored once on seven chances with the man advantage.
