Niagara scores four goals in the first and hangs on to beat Brampton 5-2 @NHLdotcom

BRAMPTON, Ont. - The Brampton Battalion will have to wait another day to clinch the Central Division title after falling 5-2 to the Niagara IceDogs in Ontario Hockey League action Friday night.

Luca Caputi, Jordan Foreman, Chris DeSousa and Michael Swift each found the net in the first period, chasing Battalion goaltender Bryan Pitton from the game after surrendering four goals on six shots.

Patrick Killeen carried the load the rest of the way, turning aside 22 shots. Swift rounded out the scoring with his second of the game, on a short-handed empty-netter in the final minute.

Sebastian Dahm was stellar between the pipes for Niagara, making 35 saves.

Bobby Sanguinetti and Cory Emmerton replied for Brampton (39-21-1-3) who needed a win in regulation to secure the franchise's third Central Division title in team history. Niagara (38-25-0-1) now trails Brampton by five points for the division lead. Each team has four games remaining in the regular season.
