TORONTO - Michael Swift of the Niagara IceDogs was named Ontario Hockey League player of the week after recording six goals and three assists for nine points in three games.
After playing in the OHL all-star game last week in Sault Ste. Marie, Swift returned to the IceDogs with a bang, scoring three goals and adding two assists in an 8-2 win over the Kingston Frontenacs on Thursday.
After being held off the score sheet in a 2-1 win over the London Knights on Friday, Swift scored his second hat trick of the week and added an assist in a 5-2 win Sunday over the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors.
Swift, a 20-year-old native of Peterborough, Ont., improved his season totals to 25 goals and 49 assists for 74 points in 53 games.
