Patrick-Maroon 2-11

Welcome to the NHL Trade Buzz. There are 15 days remaining until the 2018 NHL Trade Deadline (3 p.m. ET, Feb. 26). Does Pat Maroon go elsewhere soon? And who isn't leaving Calgary? Here's a look around the League at the latest deadline doings:

Edmonton Oilers

Oilers forward Pat Maroon is mired in a slump, with just one assist in his last seven games. That, coupled with the Oilers' disappointing season and Maroon becoming an unrestricted free agent this summer, may mean Maroon, 29, could be dealt at the trade deadline. And that's disappointing for Maroon.
"I can't let them think I'm fading away. I have to find ways to get my game going again because I want to be here," Maroon told the Edmonton Sun on Friday. "I'm an Edmonton Oiler right now and I can't worry about the trade deadline and I can't worry about signing. There's a plan here, I don't know what the plan is, but I have to stay positive."
Maroon has 27 points (13 goals, 14 assists) in 52 games this season. He had a career-high 27 goals last season. If Maroon is on the trade block, there are teams that could use him. As Curtis Pashelka of the San Jose Mercury News wrote, the Sharks could be a possibility. Joe Thornton (knee) has been out since Jan. 24 and Joel Ward (upper body) is out indefinitely after getting injured on Thursday night. Maroon has playoff experience, his best numbers coming with the Anaheim Ducks in 2015 (seven goals, four assists in 16 postseason games).

Calgary Flames

General manager Brad Treliving will look at options to improve the Flames (28-19-8), who are currently two points out of the second wild-card spot. One thing he won't be doing, though, is trading forward Micheal Ferland.
"For us looking to try to add something to replace Ferland isn't correct. Micheal Ferland isn't going anywhere," Treliving said on Sportsnet's Hockey Central on Friday. "He's gotten great chemistry with those guys [Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan]. As good as Monahan and Gaudreau are, Ferly stands on his own two feet there. He's not a third wheel; he's been a big part of that line."
Ferland has 34 points (20 goals, 14 assists) in 54 games. Treliving said that the Flames will see if they can add more production at the deadline but will be careful of "keeping up with the Joneses."
"If you go back in time and really dig into it and look at all the deals that get done on trade deadline day… how many significant changes, or teams that made significant changes, how did they fare? It's a very mixed bag," he said. "There are very few times when you go out and make big, massive changes that you end up going on to be successful that year in the playoffs. You have to be careful."
