NEW YORK - Edmonton Oilers goaltender Cam Talbot, Winnipeg Jets center Mark Scheifele and San Jose Sharks defenseman Brent Burns have been named the NHL's "Three Stars" for the week ending March 6.

FIRST STAR - CAM TALBOT, G, EDMONTON OILERS

Talbot went 3-0-0 with a 0.65 goals-against average, .981 save percentage and one shutout to backstop the Oilers (26-35-7, 59 points) to three wins in four contests. He turned aside 31 of 32 shots in a 2-1 overtime victory against the Buffalo Sabres March 1. Talbot then stopped all 35 shots he faced for his 10th career shutout - and third against the Philadelphia Flyers - in a 4-0 triumph March 3. He closed the week with 39 saves in a 2-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets March 6. The 28-year-old Caledonia, Ont., native has compiled 16 victories with a 2.51 goals-against average, .919 save percentage and two shutouts in 45 appearances this season. That includes a four-game winning streak during which he has yielded one or fewer goals in each contest (.979 SV%).

SECOND STAR - MARK SCHEIFELE, C, WINNIPEG JETS

Scheifele led the NHL with six goals in four games (6-1-7) to power the Jets (27-33-5, 59 points) to three out of a possible eight standings points. He collected one assist in a 3-2 loss to the Florida Panthers March 1. Scheifele then posted consecutive multi-goal games, scoring twice in a 4-3 overtime loss against the New York Islanders March 3 and recording his first career hat trick - as well as the game-winning goal - in a 4-2 victory over the Montreal Canadiens March 5. He finished the week with the team's lone goal in a 2-1 loss to the Edmonton Oilers March 6. The 22-year-old Kitchener, Ont., native has set a career high with 21 goals in 54 games this season (21-20-41), including nine in his past nine outings (9-5-14).

THIRD STAR - BRENT BURNS, D, SAN JOSE SHARKS

Burns paced all defensemen with 3-3-6 in three games to guide the Sharks (35-23-6, 76 points) to a pair of wins. He notched 1-2-3, his third three-point effort of the season, in a 6-2 victory over the Montreal Canadiens Feb. 29. Burns followed that performance with another multi-point game, logging 1-1-2 in a 3-2 triumph against the Vancouver Canucks March 3. He capped the week with his career-high 23rd goal of the season, tops among defensemen, in a 4-2 loss to the Canucks March 5. The 30-year-old Barrie, Ont., native has collected 23-34-57 in 64 appearances this season, second among defensemen and three points shy of his career high set in 2014-15 (17-43-60 in 82 GP).
