Wild Canucks

The Vancouver Canucks and Minnesota Wild exchanged playful jabs online after it was revealed they would meet in the Western Conference Qualifying Round as part of the NHL's Return to Play Plan.

The NHL has been paused due to concerns about the coronavirus since March 12. But the League unveiled its plan on Tuesday, and part of that will have the seventh-seeded Canucks playing the 10th-seeded Wild in a best-of-5 series, with the winner going to the First Round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Minnesota and Vancouver weren't the only teams to express their delight about returning to play. The Calgary Flames and Winnipeg Jets, who met in the 2019 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic in Regina, Saskatchewan in October, will renew their rivalry in the West's No. 8 vs. No. 9 series.

The Arizona Coyotes will meet the team they defeated in their last playoff series win, the Nashville Predators, in the West's 6-11 matchup. Nashville shared its enthusiasm for the tournament to begin at some point.

In the Eastern Conference, the New York Islanders will face the Florida Panthers, who they defeated in the 2016 Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Panthers offered a friendly hello on Twitter but may be masking their interest in revenge.

The Columbus Blue Jackets will play the Toronto Maple Leafs. Each team couldn't wait to get into that competitive spirit.

All series start dates will be announced at a later time.
