Radek Faksa signs three-year contract with Stars

Center Radek Faksa signed a three-year, $6.6 million contract with the Dallas Stars on Monday.
Faksa, who was a restricted free agent, had 33 points (12 goals, 21 assists) in 80 games with the Stars last season. He has 45 points (17 goals, 28 assists) in 125 regular-season games, all with Dallas.
"We're thrilled to have Radek locked in for the next three seasons as he is an important part of what we're building here," Stars general manager Jim Nill said in a statement. "He has proven to be a trustworthy, 200-foot player and we fully expect him to continue growing in all areas of his game."

Lindy Ruff hired by Rangers as assistant

Lindy Ruff was named an assistant coach for the New York Rangers on Monday.
Ruff, 57, coached the Dallas Stars the past four seasons. His 736 wins are fifth all-time among NHL coaches behind Scotty Bowman (1,244), Joel Quenneville (851), Al Arbour (782) and Ken Hitchcock (781). He's also coached 120 Stanley Cup Playoff games (66-54), helped the Buffalo Sabres to the Stanley Cup Final in 1999, and won the Jack Adams Award in 2006.
After becoming the Sabres' all-time leader among coaches in several categories, including games (1,165) and wins (571), Ruff guided the Stars to 50 wins and a first-place finish in the Central Division in 2015-16. During Ruff's four-season tenure with the Stars, their 2.97 goals per game were second in the NHL.

Pierre Turgeon named Kings assistant

Pierre Turgeon was hired by the Los Angeles Kings as an assistant under coach John Stevens on Monday. It is Turgeon's first coaching job in the NHL.
"We are thrilled to bring Pierre Turgeon aboard to join John Stevens and our coaching staff," Kings president Luc Robitaille said in a statement. "For the first time in L.A. Kings history, we will have one coach strictly dedicated to an 'offensive coordinator' role."
Turgeon, 47, was a five-time NHL all-star who scored 515 goals in 19 seasons with the Buffalo Sabres, New York Islanders, Montreal Canadiens, St. Louis Blues, Dallas Stars and Colorado Avalanche. The No. 1 pick by the Sabres in the 1987 NHL Draft, Turgeon set NHL career highs in goals (58), assists (74) and points (132) with the Islanders in the 1992-93 season.
