To celebrate 100 years of NHL hockey, the League's social channels will be turning back the clock, using black-and-white photos and videos, old advertisements, and headlines and phrases hockey fans would have expected to see in newspapers in 1917, when the first games were played. On the same day the Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators will play the 2017 Scotiabank NHL100 Classic outdoors at Lansdowne Park in Ottawa, the NHL's
, Facebook , Instagram and Snapchat accounts will cover the game as if it's 1917. Stories from the game Saturday will also get the old-school treatment. The 2017 Scotiabank NHL100 Classic is the culmination of the League's Centennial celebration. The first NHL games were played on Dec. 19, 1917.
