Duchene has goal for Avalanche in preseason debut; Hischier scores again for Devils

Matt Duchene scored, and rookie Alex Kerfoot had a goal and an assist for the Colorado Avalanche in a 5-1 win against the Dallas Stars at Pepsi Center.

David Warsofsky, Sven Andrighetto and Sergei Boikov scored for Colorado.

Duchene's goal at 5:56 of the third period made it 5-0. 

Roope Hintz scored for Dallas at 11:06 to make it 5-1.

Semyon Varlamov made 21 saves for the Avalanche. Kari Lehtonen made 16 saves on 20 shots though the second period, and Landon Bow had seven saves in relief for the Stars.

 
Hischier scores again in Devils win against Canadiens

Nico Hischier scored his second goal in as many preseason games, and the New Jersey Devils defeated the Montreal Canadiens 4-1 at Bell Centre.

Jesper Bratt scored twice, making it 3-1 9:10 into the third and 4-1 with 17 seconds left.

Mirco Mueller gave New Jersey a 1-0 lead 51 seconds into the first period.

Hischier, the No. 1 pick in the 2017 NHL Draft, scored with 4:30 left in the second period. He also scored Monday in a 4-1 win against the Washington Capitals.

Eric Gelinas scored a power-play goal for Montreal 7:09 into the second.

Carey Price played the entire game and made 28 saves for the Canadiens. Keith Kinkaid made 28 for the Devils.

 

Saad has hat trick for Blackhawks against Red Wings

Brandon Saad had a hat trick for the Chicago Blackhawks in a 6-1 win against the Detroit Red Wings at United Center.

Ryan Hartman, Brent Seabrook and Alex DeBrincat scored for Chicago, which led 4-0 7:24 into the second period. Richard Panik had three assists, and Nick Schmaltz, Patrick Sharp and Jordan Oesterle had two each. Corey Crawford made 30 saves in two periods.

Michael Rasmussen scored for Detroit at 8:08 of the second. Petr Mrazek faced 40 shots.

Agostino OT goal gives Bruins win against Flyers

Kenny Agostino scored with 1:40 left in overtime to give the Boston Bruins a 2-1 win against the Philadelphia Flyers at TD Garden.

Defenseman Travis Sanheim gave Philadelphia a 1-0 lead at 4:57, but Boston defenseman Paul Postma tied it 1-1 1:42 later.

Brian Elliott made a save on all 18 shots he faced in two periods in his Flyers debut. Alex Lyon made nine saves in relief.

Tuukka Rask made 30 saves for the Bruins.

Stalock, Wild shut out Jets

Alex Stalock made 21 saves for the Minnesota Wild in a 1-0 win against the Winnipeg Jets at Xcel Energy Center.

Jared Spurgeon scored 9:20 into the second period.

Connor Hellebuyck made 22 saves for the Jets.

Sharks use big second period to defeat Golden Knights

The San Jose Sharks scored four times in the second period of a 5-2 win against the Vegas Golden Knights at SAP Center.

It was the first loss in three preseason games for Vegas.

Tomas Hertl had a goal and an assist for the Sharks. Kevin Labanc, Joe Pavelski, Jannik Hansen and Brenden Dillon scored in the second period.

David Perron (5:12) and Teemu Pulkkinen (6:25) scored in the third period for the Golden Knights to make it 4-2.

Martin Jones made 15 saves for San Jose, and Calvin Pickard had 29 for Vegas.
