Svechnikov, Hamilton propel Hurricanes into top 10; Strome, Blackhawks trending up

FANTASY TEAM POWER RANKINGS FOR 2019-20

Fantasy owners should use these rankings as a basis for player/team evaluation in waiver-wire adds, drops and DFS streaming options. Factors taken into account include positional depth, power-play, lineup and injury trends, team security and overall upside for the rest of the 2019-20 season in standard leagues.

1. Washington Capitals (SAME)
Players in top 200: 10

2. Boston Bruins (SAME)
Players in top 200: 8

3. Tampa Bay Lightning (+2)
Players in top 200: 7
NOTE: The Lightning have regained their scoring touch with 26 goals in their past five games. Nikita Kucherov was a buy-low candidate entering Thursday but is back to being one of the most valuable forwards in fantasy after a four-point performance against the New York Rangers.

4. Vegas Golden Knights (-1)
Players in top 200: 8

5. Toronto Maple Leafs (-1)
Players in top 200: 9

6. Nashville Predators (-1)
Players in top 200: 8

7. Carolina Hurricanes (+4)
Players in top 200: 7
NOTE: Andrei Svechnikov has been one of the most valuable fantasy wings with 21 points (eight goals, 13 assists) in 19 games. Dougie Hamilton has been the second best defensemen in fantasy with 21 points (nine goals, 12 assists) in 19 games behind John Carlson of the Capitals.

NOTE: The Avalanche remain depleted from various injuries but could get elite right wing Mikko Rantanen, who recently resumed skating, back into the lineup soon. Wing Joonas Donskoi has joined the top 200 rankings and brings exposure to elite center Nathan MacKinnon.

12. Edmonton Oilers (+3)
Players in top 200: 8

13. Calgary Flames (-1)
Players in top 200: 6

14. Dallas Stars (+2)
Players in top 200: 7
NOTE: Patience has paid off for fantasy owners who stuck with forward Joe Pavelski during his slow start; he has four points (two goals, two assists) and eight shots on goal in his past two games.

15. San Jose Sharks (+3)
Players in top 200: 7

16. Vancouver Canucks (-3)
Players in top 200: 8
NOTE: The Canucks have had trouble scoring recently but remain valuable in all formats. Rookie goalie Thatcher Demko, who is 5-2-0 with a .931 save percentage in seven appearances, could earn more starts over Jacob Markstrom as the season continues.

NOTE: Forward Dylan Strome was one of the biggest risers in NHL.com's top 200 rankings with eight points (one goal, seven assists) in his past four games and is a must-own forward again in all league formats.

NOTE: Defensemen Tony DeAngelo and Adam Fox are each worth streaming in deeper leagues and could gain significant value when center Mika Zibanejad (upper body) returns to the lineup.

Players in top 200: 5
NOTE: Forward Robby Fabbri is worth rostering in deeper leagues with four points (two goals, two assists) in four games with the Red Wings skating in mostly a top-six role.
