Dubois On Tap

Welcome to the NHL On Tap. Three NHL.com writers will share what they are most looking forward to on the schedule each day. Today, their choices from the seven games Tuesday.

Dubois to debut for Jets

Pierre-Luc Dubois
will make his long-awaited debut with the Winnipeg Jets when they visit the Calgary Flames at Scotiabank Saddledome (10 p.m. ET; ESPN+, SNW, TSN3, NHL.TV). The center practiced Sunday and Monday, his first two on-ice sessions since going into quarantine following the trade that sent him to Winnipeg from the Columbus Blue Jackets for forwards Patrik Laine and Jack Roslovic on Jan. 23. He's been skating at center between Kyle Connor and Trevor Lewis and likely will start there Tuesday. With Dubois, Mark Scheifele, Paul Stastny and Adam Lowry, the Jets might have the deepest group of centers in the NHL. "I'm excited to have him, excited to have another elite center to work with as a defenseman," Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey said. "I'm excited to see what he can do as he gets going with our team." Adding to the interest in Dubois' debut is the fourth game in nine days between the Jets and Flames. There hasn't been a lot of animosity between the teams so far, but Dubois, who plays a heavy, physical style, should have some extra energy playing his first game since Jan. 21. -- Adam Kimelman, deputy managing editor

Marleau to pass Jagr on games played list

Patrick Marleau is set to play his 1,734th regular-season game and pass Jaromir Jagr for sole possession of third place on the NHL games played list when the San Jose Sharks visit the Los Angeles Kings at Staples Center (10 p.m. ET; FS-W, NBCSA, NHL.TV). The 41-year-old center needs 24 games to pass Mark Messier (1,756) for second place and 35 to eclipse Gordie Howe (1,767) for first. "Yeah, it's pretty cool to see those guys' names up there," Marleau said. "Obviously one of the best players to ever play the game. ... so it's pretty cool to be in that same company." San Jose has 46 games remaining this season. Marleau has played 864 consecutive regular-season games heading into Tuesday. With Marleau chasing history, the Kings look to end a four-game losing streak (0-4-0). Anze Kopitar leads the Kings in scoring with 14 points (two goals, 12 assists) in 11 games, and has five multi-point games. -- William Douglas, staff writer

McDavid, Draisaitl look to keep streaks going

Every game for the Edmonton Oilers seems to be a chance for Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl to put on a show. Each forward will try to extend his point streak to 11 games when the Oilers visit the Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre on Tuesday (7 p.m. ET; NBCSN, TSN5, RDS, SNW, NHL.TV). McDavid has scored 22 points (six goals, 16 assists) during his streak and Draisaitl has scored 20 points (eight goals, 12 assists) in his past 10 games. They are 1-2 in the NHL scoring race, McDavid leading with 27 points (nine goals, 18 assists) in 14 games and Draisaitl second with 25 points (eight goals, 17 assists). Against the Senators, who have allowed an NHL-high 4.23 goals per game, Draisaitl has scored nine points (two goals, seven assists) in three games and McDavid has scored eight points (one goal, seven assists). Each is on his way to making a serious case for the Hart Trophy voted as most valuable player in the NHL. -- Amalie Benjamin, staff writer
