"On behalf of the NHL family, I'd like to thank … teachers, students, volunteers for all of your participation in the Future Goals program," Commissioner Bettman said. "Education is so important, and we're glad hockey can be a part of it."

The NHL and NHLPA teamed up to create Future Goals, a program committed to sparking student interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) topics, in 2014. Future Goals created the Hockey Scholar curriculum that helps students with the real-world application of science and math through hockey.
