Morning-report-12-13

Connor McDavid filled the scoresheet and Johnny Gaudreau went to the top of the highlight reel in what was a wild night in the NHL on Wednesday.
McDavid, the 20-year-old center for the Edmonton Oilers, had four points (one goals, three assists) in a
7-2 win at the Columbus Blue Jackets
.

It was McDavid's second NHL game with at least four points; he had two goals and three assists on Feb. 11, 2006 against the Toronto Maple Leafs. It was the third time this season the Oilers have scored at least seven goals. Winnipeg is the only other team in the League to have three games of at least seven goals.
Since the beginning of the 2016-17 season, McDavid leads all players with 40 multi-point games, three more than Nikita Kucherov of the Tampa Bay Lightning, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. He is third in the League in scoring this season with 39 points (12 goals, 27 assists).
While McDavid was piling up the points, Gaudreau, the Calgary Flames forward, had the individual highlight of the night, drawing some serious 'oohs' and 'ahhs' with an incredible shootout goal in a 3-2 loss against the Minnesota Wild.

Vasilevskiy's stunning stops on Steen, Jaskin

The St. Louis Blues nearly had a board-aided, game-tying goal, but Andrei Vasilevskiy stood tall to keep the Tampa Bay Lightning in front in a 3-0 victory.
Vasilevskiy became the first NHL goalie to win 20 games this season. He became the sixth goalie in NHL history to win 20 games in his first 25 appearances of the season, according to Elias.
The others are Tiny Thompson of the Boston Bruins (23 games, 1929-30); Andrew Hammond of the Ottawa Senators (24 games, 2014-15), Bill Durnan of the Montreal Canadiens (25 games, 1943-44), Pete Peeters of the Flyers (25 games, 1979-80) and Braden Holtby of the Washington Capitals (25 games, 2015-16).
