Arvidsson_Josi_Short_Shifts_Ring

A wild Saturday night in the NHL featured a wedding engagement in Nashville, a 10-goal game in Montreal and a crazy ending to the latest version of the Battle of Alberta.
Goal horns and wedding bells could be heard throughout Bridgestone Arena on Saturday. The Nashville Predators, specifically Viktor Arvidsson and P.K. Subban, helped two of the Predators' biggest fans get engaged.
Arvidsson, the favorite player of bride-to-be Morgan Landsberg, played ring bearer for Conor Payne, the man popping the question. An astonished Landsberg was first at a loss for words, so Subban helped her out.

The
whole scene was put on video
and shared by the Predators, and it is worth a watch if you are the romantic type who also loves hockey. As an engagement gift, the Predators
defeated the Anaheim Ducks 3-2 in a shootout
.

Let's goal crazy

There were no engagement rings, but plenty of goal horns at Bell Centre on Saturday. Paul Byron scored his first NHL hat trick as part of the Montreal Canadiens'
10-1 win
against the Detroit Red Wings.
It was the 54th time the Canadiens scored 10 or more goals in a game and second time in the past two seasons; they defeated the Colorado Avalanche 10-1 on
Dec. 10, 2016
.
The two previous double-digit games came 10 days apart: on
Feb. 14
and
Feb. 24
, 1990.
The outburst was short of the Canadiens record for goals in a single game: 16 set in 1920.

Oiles well that ends well

The Edmonton Oilers had to hang on for a 7-5 win against the Calgary Flames in the Battle of Alberta.
The Oilers led 6-1 1:29 into the third period, and that's when things got interesting.
Here are the highlights
.

Tree-mendous

Columbus Blue Jackets goalie Sergei Bobrovsky went looking for his first Christmas tree. He went big, then he went home.
Bobrovsky chronicled his adventure
while searching for his tree, then shared a picture of the estimated 8-foot-tall decoration.

Choo- choo- choosing the subway

A few New York Rangers players decided to skip the Manhattan traffic and
take the subway
to Central Park for their outdoor practice. Jimmy Vesey, Brady Skjei and Kevin Hayes put on their work clothes and rode the subway, then walked to practice.

Beating the buzzer

Noah Hanifin capped a wild final possession with an overtime goal to give the Carolina Hurricanes a
3-2 win
against the Florida Panthers. Hanifin's goal came with two seconds remaining in the overtime period.

Good 'Wood

New Jersey Devils forward Stefan Noesen had a one-timer ticketed for the net, but he didn't count on the Wedgewall. Arizona Coyotes goalie Scott Wedgewood submitted a candidate for save of the year, flying across the crease to make a pad stop in the second period of a
5-0 victory
.

Wild win on pretty play

Matt Dumba and Charlie Coyle executed a perfect 2-on-1 rush that resulted in Dumba scoring the game-winning goal in overtime to give the Minnesota Wild a
2-1 victory
against the St. Louis Blues.

Amazing 'Things'

Gaten Matarazzo, one of the stars of the hit show 'Stranger Things,' took a break from fighting shadow monsters to
sing the national anthem at the Rangers game
Friday. Much like his acting chops, his pipes are finely tuned.
