Visit www.Hurricanes.com/Draft for the latest news, videos and pick-by-pick information in the 2018 NHL Draft.
We're just days away from the 2018 NHL Draft in Dallas, where the Carolina Hurricanes are prepared to make the second overall selection for the fourth time in franchise history.
Rasmus Dahlin is the consensus first overall pick and has been for some time. The Hurricanes will then have their pick of some top-tier talent, and there's one name that has risen above the field.
We've compiled a collection of mock drafts and prospect rankings. The results are not shocking.

NHL.com, Mike Morreale
Andrei Svechnikov, RW, Barrie (OHL)
"The Canadian Hockey League Top Prospect of the Year, Svechnikov has great offensive instincts, high-end skills, puck control and a fantastic shot. He had 72 points (40 goals, 32 assists) in 44 games this season, his second in North America and first in the OHL."
NHL.com, Adam Kimelman
Andrei Svechnikov, RW, Barrie (OHL)
"Hurricanes general manager Don Waddell believes his team needs scoring help; Svechnikov (6-2, 192), a skilled power forward who scored 40 goals in 44 games this season, should help in that regard."
NHL.com, Guillaume Lepage
Andrei Svechnikov, RW, Barrie (OHL)
"Waddell has signaled Svechnikov will be the choice, and the forward looks ready to make the leap to the NHL as soon as next season."
North State Journal, Cory Lavalette
Andrei Svechnikov, RW, Barrie (OHL)
"Svechnikov combines size, strength, speed and skill like few draft-eligible forwards of the last decade. As soon as the No. 2 envelope was opened and revealed the Hurricanes' logo, Svechnikov was the guy. He should be on Friday night as well - and for years to come in Raleigh."
Sportsnet, Jeff Marek
Andrei Svechnikov, RW, Barrie (OHL)
"A beast. Plays like he's 22 years old already. Power moves to the net and also a playmaker's touch."
USA Today, Kevin Allen
Andrei Svechnikov, RW, Barrie (OHL)
"Has ability to step into the NHL next season and score immediately. He netted 40 in 44 games this season. Could be a 20-goal scorer in the NHL as a rookie."
SB Nation, Canes Country
Andrei Svechnikov, RW, Barrie (OHL)
"Svechnikov … will add top-end dynamic skill both at even strength and with the man advantage. With Sebastian Aho taking over the mantle of Carolina's best offensive player last season and Martin Necas on the horizon, the Canes finally have a young core of forwards that can grow with their young and underrated defensive group after adding Svechnikov to the organization."
TSN, Craig Button
Andrei Svechnikov, RW, Barrie (OHL)
"The Canes currently lack difference makers, but they believe Svechnikov and last year's first-round pick, Martin Necas, can bring a dynamic offensive element to the lineup for years to come."

Andrei Svechnikov, RW, Barrie (OHL)
"Svechnikov has size, speed and skill. He can play a power game or a finesse game, make plays or score goals any way they can be scored - off the rush, one timers from far out, getting his nose dirty in front of the net or off the cycle."
The Hockey News, Ryan Kennedy and Ken Campbell
Andrei Svechnikov, RW, Barrie (OHL)
"The Canes need scoring. … Svechnikov is a ready-to-go NHLer. He's got size and skill. Carolina quite happy with pick No. 2."

Andrei Svechnikov, RW, Barrie (OHL)
"No slouch himself, Svechnikov's abbreviated season (due to injury and international play) in Barrie showed off a ton of upside. He's a big-bodied sniper who goes to the net."
