DALLAS - Matt Moulson scored a career-high four goals to help the New York Islanders beat the Dallas Stars 5-4 on Saturday night.
The left winger scored twice in the wild, seven-goal second period, giving the Islanders a 5-4 edge off a 3-on-2 break with 2:50 left with his team-high 13th goal of the season.
John Tavares and P.A. Parenteau each had three assists and Dylan Reese added his first goal of the season for the Islanders, 3-0-1 in their last four games.
Islanders goalie Rick DiPietro left after two periods because of a groin injury, and replacement Al Montoya stopped all 13 shots he faced in the third period.
Eric Nystrom, the son of former Islanders great Bobby Nystrom, scored for Dallas, giving him 10 goals in his last 16 games. Tomas Vincour, Jake Dowell and Tom Wandell added their first goals of the season.

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) ? Arron Asham and Pascal Dupuis scored 1:27 apart in the third period, and Pittsburgh made a late defensive stand to beat slumping Carolina.
Craig Adams had a goal and an assist, and Sidney Crosby added an assist for the Penguins. They've won five of seven games since Crosby's return, and he has two goals and 10 assists in that span.
Brent Johnson stopped 30 shots to win a battle of the backups against Brian Boucher, who made 37 saves.
Jamie McBain scored two goals for the Hurricanes, who have lost six straight and 13 of 16.
Carolina had a 5-on-3 advantage for the final 2:04, but Johnson stopped five shots.

WASHINGTON (AP) ??? Brooks Laich scored 12 seconds into overtime to lift Washington past Ottawa and give new Capitals coach Dale Hunter his first NHL victory.
Hunter was coaching his third game since replacing Bruce Boudreau on Monday.
Nicklas Backstrom scored 1:58 into the game and Troy Brouwer also had a goal to help the Capitals snap a four-game losing streak. Michael Neuvirth, starting for the first time in five games, made 32 saves.
Erik Karlsson and Milan Michalek scored for Ottawa.
FLYERS 4, COYOTES 2
GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) ??? Claude Giroux scored his 15th goal of the season to move into a tie for the NHL scoring lead with 32 points and Philadelphia dominated Phoenix early.
Rookie Matt Read had a goal and two assists as the Flyers took a 4-0 lead after one period. Wayne Simmonds and Scott Hartnell also scored in Philadelphia's outburst. Ray Whitney scored for Phoenix, his 350th career goal. Mikkel Boedker added the second Coyotes goal with 41 seconds left.
Ilya Bryzgalov had 36 saves for Philadelphia and improved to 2-0 against his former team. Coyotes goalie Mike Smith was pulled after allowing four goals on 17 shots in the first period, while Jason LaBarbera had 13 saves, blanking the Flyers the final two periods.
BRUINS 4, MAPLE LEAFS 1
BOSTON (AP) ??? Tuukka Rask stopped 21 shots and Boston beat Toronto to start December the same way the Bruins finished November.
Boston beat Toronto for the fourth straight time this season and the second straight game. Nathan Horton and David Krejci each had a goal and an assist for the Bruins, who have outscored their closest pursuer in the Northeast Division 23-6 this season.
Rask made his first start since the day after Thanksgiving, a 3-2 shootout loss to Detroit that was the only blemish on Boston's otherwise perfect November. He has won four of his last five.
James Reimer stopped 26 shots in his first game in the net since leaving an Oct. 22 game against Montreal with an injury that was not disclosed. He had not lost in regulation in his previous six starts.
Chris Kelly also scored for Boston, and Milan Lucic had a pair of assists. Mikhail Grabovski scored Toronto's only goal.

Dustin Penner scored for the Kings, and Jonathan Bernier made 25 saves in his fifth start of the season.
Penner missed the previous nine games because of a broken finger and was inserted in the lineup after Mike Richards was placed in injured reserve because of a head injury.
Los Angeles' Jarret Stoll received a delayed penalty for goalie interference at 4:51 of the third period, nullifying a goal by teammate Jack Johnson that would have tied it.

Hossa scored on a power play and short-handed for his first multi-goal game of the season. Jonathan Toews, Patrick Sharp and Michael Frolik also scored to help Chicago win for the fourth time in five games. The Blackhawks were coming off a 5-4 shootout victory over the New York Islanders on Friday night in Chicago.
David Perron, returning after missing 97 games because of a concussion, and Chris Stewart scored for St. Louis. The Blues lost for the second time in two nights.
Elliott fell to 10-2 and had a six-game winning streak snapped. He hadn't allowed more than two goals in his 11 starts, had stopped 239 of his previous 249 shots and came into the game leading the NHL in goals- against average (1.31) and save percentage (.951).

WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) ????????? Evander Kane scored twice in the Jets' victory over New Jersey.
Kane scored the Jets' first goal and added an empty-netter with 32 seconds left, his 14th goal of the season. Alexander Burmistrov and Mark Stuart also scored, and Bryan Little had two assists.
Ondrej Pavelec, making his 23rd start of the season, made 23 save.
Adam Henrique and Patrik Elias scored for New Jersey. The Devils have lost four straight.
