UNIONDALE, N.Y. - Brad Richards' go-ahead goal with 4:55 remaining snapped a tie and sent the New York Rangers to their seventh straight victory, 4-2 over the New York Islanders on Tuesday night.

Richards broke a 2-2 tie, and Ryan Callahan added an empty-net goal in the final second for the Rangers, who are on their longest winning streak since October 2009 when they also won seven in a row.

The Islanders (4-8-3) returned home from a three-game road trip and lost for the fifth time in six outings.

Sean Avery and defenceman Steve Eminger also scored for the Rangers (10-3-3). Frans Nielsen and Matt Moulson both netted tying goals, but the Islanders weren't able to nudge in front.

PENGUINS 6, AVALANCHE 3

PITTSBURGH (AP) ? James Neal had a goal and two assists as the Penguins rallied past Colorado.

Jordan Staal, Evgeni Malkin, Brooks Orpik, Pascal Dupuis and Kris Letang also scored for the Penguins, who scored four times in the third period against goalie Semyon Varlamov to overcome an early 3-1 deficit.

Neal's power-play goal, his 12th tally of the season, in the third gave him at least one goal in each of Pittsburgh's eight home games this season.

Marc-Andre Fleury shook off a rocky first period to finish with 24 saves.

Jay McClement, Matt Duchene and David Jones all scored first-period goals for the Avalanche, who lost to an Eastern Conference team for the first time this season.

BRUINS 4, DEVILS 3

BOSTON (AP) ??? Benoit Pouliot scored the tiebreaking goal with 3:01 left in the third period to lift the Bruins over New Jersey and send the defending Stanley Cup champions to their sixth consecutive win.

Brad Marchand scored for the third straight game, and Tim Thomas stopped 27 shots for Boston, which has climbed out of last place in the Eastern Conferencen. The Bruins have scored 34 goals in six games.

Nick Palmieri scored twice for the Devils, who had won four of five, and David Clarkson added a goal. Johan Hedberg made 33 saves.

Chris Kelly and Shawn Thornton also scored for the Bruins.

WILD 4, BLUE JACKETS 2

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) ??? Cal Clutterbuck scored in the third period and Minnesota rallied to beat the Blue Jackets.

Matt Cullen scored on the power play for his team-leading eighth goal, and Nick Johnson and Devin Setoguchi also scored for Minnesota, which went 3-2 on its road trip.

Niklas Backstrom stopped a season-high 43 shots for the Wild (10-5-3), who are off to one of the best starts in franchise history.

Antoine Vermette broke out of a slump with a short-handed goal, and Mark Letestu scored on the power play in the first period for Columbus (3-13-1), which has an NHL-low seven points.

Steve Mason made 20 saves for the Blue Jackets.

COYOTES 3, MAPLE LEAFS 2, SO

TORONTO (AP) ??? Patrick O'Sullivan and Radim Vrbata scored shootout goals, and Phoenix overcame the Maple Leafs' furious rally.

Shane Doan and Oliver Ekman-Larsson scored in regulation for Phoenix (9-4-3).

Mike Komisarek and Phil Kessel had goals in the third period for the Maple Leafs (10-6-2), who have dropped four straight home games.

Toronto is 3-4-1 since a 7-1-2 start. The Maple Leafs also have injury concerns after Mikhail Grabovski and Clarke MacArthur both left the game.

BLUES 2, RED WINGS 1

ST. LOUIS (AP) ????????? Alex Steen scored unassisted for the go-ahead goal in the second period, and the Blues held Detroit to single-digit shots in all three periods of its one-goal victory.

Matt D'Agostini added a power-play goal for the Blues, who ended the Red Wings' four-game winning streak and halted goalie Jimmy Howard's five-game winning streak against St. Louis. Detroit was 0 for 6 on the power play and is 0 for 16 the last three games. They are 2 for 24 on road advantages.

Howard made 35 saves in his first loss against the Blues since a 4-3 shootout defeat on Feb. 9, 2010, and Justin Abdelkader scored the game's first goal. Detroit totalled 22 shots, but only four in the third.

PREDATORS 3, CAPITALS 1

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) ????????? Colin Wilson scored with 24.3 seconds remaining and Pekka Rinne made 39 saves to lift the Predators over Washington.

In the final minute, Martin Erat carried the puck below the goal-line, pulling Washington goalie Tomas Vokoun with him. Erat calmly slid the puck to Wilson, who scored his fourth of the season into an open net.

After two scoreless periods, Washington's Troy Brouwer opened the scoring with a wrist shot from the high slot that sailed over Rinne's right shoulder with 4:46 left.

Just 28 seconds later, Erat tied it with a tap-in from the left post off a cross-crease feed from Nashville captain Shea Weber.

Weber made it 3-1 with an empty-net goal just seconds after Wilson scored.
