ATLANTA (AP) - Rob Schremp and Blake Wheeler scored for Atlanta in the shootout, giving the Thrashers a crucial 4-3 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers after squandering three leads Thursday night.

The Thrashers closed within four points of the eighth-place Buffalo Sabres in the playoff race with their second win in six days over the Eastern Conference-leading Flyers. Atlanta will face Buffalo on Saturday.

Danny Briere scored two goals, including a tying shot with 1:17 left in regulation for the Flyers, who overcame three one-goal deficits.

DALLAS (AP) - Jamie Benn extended his point streak to nine games with a goal and an assist and Kari Lehtonen made 23 saves for his 16th NHL shutout.

Steve Ott, Brenden Morrow, Jason Williams and Brandon Segal added goals for Dallas, which ended a two-game skid.

Mike Ribeiro and Brad Richards had two assists each in support of Lehtonen, who has two shutouts in four games.

Chicago dropped to 9-2-2 in its last 13 games.

The Stars finished 3-1 against the Blackhawks this season and went 5-2-1 against Chicago the past two seasons.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Shea Weber scored a power-play goal with 1:23 left in overtime, and the Nashville Predators won for the third time in four games.

Steven Kampfer was penalized for holding Mike Fisher 2:59 into the period. Weber scored off a pass from Ryan Suter and Nashville won for the first time in overtime this season. The Predators' previous six victories past regulation all came in the shootout.

David Legwand's goal tied it at 10:56 of the third period. Colin Wilson and Sergei Kostitsyn each had a goal and an assist. Patric Hornqvist got a game misconduct late in the first period for elbowing Seguin.

Patrice Bergeron put Boston up 3-2 with his goal 1:42 into the third. Tyler Seguin and David Krejci also scored for Boston.

MONTREAL (AP) - Carey Price made three big shootout saves, and Michael Cammalleri scored on Montreal's fourth attempt in the tiebreaker.

Price sprawled to the ice to poke-check the puck away from NHL goal leader Steven Stamkos and then turned aside Martin St. Louis' 360 attempt.

After Simon Gagne scored on Tampa Bay's third attempt to extend the shootout, Cammalleri snapped a shot past Dwayne Roloson. Price then waited out Teddy Purcell's deke for a glove save to secure the win.

Price stopped 35 shots, and Brian Gionta and Andrei Kostitsyn had goals in regulation for sixth-place Montreal, which has 85 points - three fewer than fifth-place Tampa Bay in the Eastern Conference playoff race.

OTTAWA (AP) - Chris Neil scored two third-period goals and Ottawa beat New Jersey for the second time in nine days.

The Devils are six points behind the eighth-place Buffalo Sabres for the final Eastern Conference playoff spot.

Ryan Shannon also scored for the Senators and Curtis McElhinney, making his second start for Ottawa, made 33 saves.

Brian Rolston scored for the Devils. Martin Brodeur stopped 23 shots.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Recently recalled Joey MacDonald made 37 saves for his second NHL shutout, and Drew Miller and Valtteri Filppula scored first-period goals.

After snapping Washington's nine-game winning streak on Wednesday, the Red Wings won their fourth in a row to give Mike Babcock his 300th win with Detroit. He is the third NHL coach to win 300 games with a team over a six-season span, joining Montreal's Scotty Bowman (321) and Edmonton's Glen Sather (307).

The Blue Jackets have lost nine of 10.

MacDonald joined the team on Wednesday while Chris Osgood continues to rehab from sports hernia surgery. He preserved the shutout with a late goal-line glove save on Rick Nash that withstood a video review.

Nash has gone 11 games without a goal.

CALGARY, Alberta (AP) - Jarome Iginla scored two goals and Calgary sent Colorado to its 10th straight loss.

Rene Bourque and Alex Kotalik had a goal and an assist each for the Flames, who snapped a three-game losing streak and moved back into eighth place in the Western Conference.

Mark Giordano also scored for Calgary, and Jay Bouwmeester had two assists.

Darren Olver and Cody McLeod had goals for the Avalanche, 2-20-2 since Jan. 18. Matt Duchene had two assists.

EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) - Ray Whitney and Radim Vrbata each had a goal and an assist and Phoenix beat Edmonton for its fourth straight win.

Lee Stempniak also scored for the Coyotes who are 5-0-1 in their last six.

Magnus Paajarvi scored for the Oilers who have lost five straight and trail the NHL.

Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 35 shots for the Coyotes.
