BOSTON (AP) - Mark Recchi tipped Dennis Seidenberg's slap shot past Ryan Miller in overtime, a power-play goal that was initially waved off by the referee, and the Boston Bruins escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night.
The game continued until the next whistle, with 1:58 left, but the goal 2:11 into the period officially ended it.
Tim Thomas stopped 28 shots to help Boston bounce back from a shootout loss to Toronto on Saturday.
Miller made 33 saves.
Milan Lucic and Nathan Horton also scored for the Bruins. Luke Adam netted his first NHL goal for Buffalo, but he also raked his stick across Marc Savard's face to give Boston an overtime power play.
SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) - Stephen Weiss scored his second goal of the game 43 seconds into overtime to give Florida a victory over Colorado.
Bill Thomas and David Booth also had goals for Florida, which has won two straight following a three-game losing streak. Tomas Vokoun made 22 saves.
John-Michael Liles, Daniel Winnik and Matt Duchene scored for the Avalanche, who have lost four in a row.
Craig Anderson, who served as Vokoun's backup for four seasons before signing with Colorado last offseason, made 21 saves.
MONTREAL (AP) - Jeff Halpern, Brian Gionta and Roman Hamrlik scored third-period goals and Carey Price made 27 saves as Montreal beat Ottawa for its third straight win.
Halpern broke a 1-1 tie 2:18 into the third, Gionta put the Canadiens ahead by two goals midway through the period, and Hamrlik closed the scoring with 3:32 left. Michael Cammalleri added a power-play goal in the first for Montreal.
The Canadiens are 8-1-1 at home since a 3-2 loss to the Senators on Nov. 6.
Ottawa's Nick Foligno scored a power-play goal late in the first period, but the Senators fell to 3-7-1 in their last 11.
Montreal has won three of four against the Senators this season and earned at least one point in five straight games.
