DALLAS (AP) - The top line of Brad Richards, Loui Eriksson and James Neal had goals, Kari Lehtonen made 25 saves and Dallas beat the Detroit Red Wings 4-1 on Thursday night in Stars career scoring leader Mike Modano's first game in Texas as a visiting player.

Brenden Morrow added his fourth goal in three games, and Richards and Mike Ribeiro had two assists each for the Stars (3-0) in their home opener. Niklas Kronwall's power-play goal at 11:25 of the third period ended Lehtonen's bid for his 15th career shutout.

In 20 seasons as the face of the Stars/North Stars franchise, Modano had 557 goals and 1,359 points, most by a U.S.-born player in NHL history. The 40-year-old Modano was a free agent over the summer and, when the Stars didn't offer him a contract, he signed a one-year deal Aug. 5 with the Red Wings, his hometown team.

NASHVILLE, Tenn (AP) - Steve Sullivan scored two goals and Nashville beat St. Louis to improve to 3-0 for the second time in franchise history.

Marcel Goc and Patric Hornqvist also scored, and rookie Anders Lindback made 32 saves for Nashville, coming off a 3-2 victory in Chicago on Wednesday night.

Matt D'Agostini, T.J. Oshie and Patrik Berglund scored for St. Louis.

Dating to last season, the Predators have beaten the Blues five consecutive times. The Predators also ended the Blues' season-opening winning streak at two games.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Mikko Koivu scored two of Minnesota's four power-play goals and the Wild beat Edmonton at home for the 14th straight time.

Antti Miettinen and Matt Cullen each had a goal and an assist for Minnesota, which tied the longest current home winning streak against a team. Nashville has beaten Columbus 14 straight times in Tennessee.

Niklas Backstrom stopped 24 shots to improve to 12-0-0 lifetime at home against the Oilers. Minnesota is 9-0-1 in home openers, winning the last nine.

Dustin Penner and Minnesota native Tom Gilbert scored for Edmonton.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Steven Stamkos, Dominic Moore and Paval Kubina scored goals to help Tampa Bay beat Philadelphia in an emotional return for Simon Gagne.

Gagne, a playoff hero last season in the Flyers' run to the Stanley Cup finals, spent the first 10 seasons of his career with Philadelphia before being dealt to Tampa Bay during the summer to clear salary cap space.

Dan Ellis made 24 saves for Tampa Bay.

Nikolay Zherdev and Danny Briere scored for Philadelphia.

OTTAWA (AP) - Mike Fisher scored his second goal of the game on a power play 14:03 into the third and Ottawa recovered for its first victory in four games this season.

Fisher drove a slap shot from the slot past Cam Ward to restore Ottawa's one-goal lead after Carolina scored goals 1:39 apart earlier in the period to tie it at 2.

Milan Michalek also scored for the Senators. Carolina captain Eric Staal assisted on Sergei Samsonov's goal 7:20 into the third before drawing the Hurricanes even with his first of the season at 8:59.
