BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -Daniel Alfredsson scored twice in the final minute - including an empty-netter - to extend the Ottawa Senators' franchise-best winning streak to 10 with a 4-2 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday night.

Jason Spezza also scored two goals and added an assist, and Brian Elliott stopped 36 shots to win his eighth straight game - matching the franchise mark he set as a rookie last season. Ryan Shannon had two assists in helping the surging Senators close to within three points of the first-place Sabres in the Northeast Division.

Spezza has scored in seven consecutive games, including five since returning from a right knee injury.

Andrej Sekera and Tim Connolly scored 27 seconds apart to tie it in the third period for the Sabres, who lost their eighth in a row to Ottawa, dating to a 4-2 home win on Jan. 6, 2009.

CHICAGO (AP) - David Backes scored twice during a three-goal second period, Chris Mason made 32 saves, and St. Louis beat Chicago.

St. Louis scored three times in the final 8:26 of the second - the second and third goals coming 69 seconds apart - to spoil Chicago's first game at home since Jan. 14 following a two-week, eight-game road trip.

Jay McClement also had a goal for the Blues. Patrick Kane and Marian Hossa scored for Chicago.

CALGARY, Alberta (AP) - Curtis Glencross recorded his first NHL hat trick to lead Calgary to a win over Carolina.

New Flames forward Matt Stajan added the winning goal in the second period.

Carolina captain Eric Staal scored the lone goal for the Hurricanes, who have lost two straight following a four-game winning streak.

Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 27 shots to earn his 25th win of the season. Carolina's Cam Ward made 35 saves.

EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) - Ryan Potulny scored the game's only goal during a power play with 17 seconds left, and Edmonton won its second straight following a 13-game skid, topping Philadelphia.

Jeff Deslauriers stopped 33 shots to earn his second shutout of the season.

The Oilers have won both of their games in February after going all of January without a victory. Edmonton, which has only three wins in 23 games, broke an 0-11-2 slide with a 4-2 home win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday night.

The Oilers have an NHL-low 42 points.

Michael Leighton made 26 saves for the Flyers, who had a two-game winning streak snapped.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - Ryan Whitney and Kyle Chipchura scored first-period goals, and Anaheim extended its winning streak at home to nine games with a victory over Detroit.

Jonas Hiller made 46 saves after stopping 33 shots Monday in a 3-0 victory at Florida. Bobby Ryan had a goal and an assist, and Ryan Getzlaf added two assists for the Ducks, who can tie the franchise record for consecutive home wins Monday against Los Angeles.

Pavel Datsyuk scored a power-play goal and rookie Jimmy Howard made 27 saves for the Red Wings, who haven't won consecutive games since Jan. 7-9.
