PITTSBURGH (AP) -Niclas Bergfors had a goal and two assists and the New Jersey Devils closed within a victory of tying the NHL record of 10 consecutive road victories to start a season, beating the slumping Pittsburgh Penguins 4-1 on Thursday night.
Zach Parise added a goal and an assist, Andy Greene and David Clarkson also scored, Travis Zajac had three assists, and Martin Brodeur made 25 saves.
The Devils can tie the road streak record - set by Buffalo in 2006-07 - on Monday night in Philadelphia. New Jersey won its seventh in a row overall and, with 26 points, tied idle Washington for first place in the Eastern Conference.

BOSTON (AP) - Tomas Vokoun stopped 40 shots for his third shutout of the season, and Cory Stillman scored in the shootout for Florida.
Boston's Tim Thomas made 23 saves in regulation and overtime to extend his shutout streak to 172 minutes, 28 seconds. He stopped the first three Florida attempts in the shootout, but Stillman beat him on the glove side to end it.
Boston held Florida to one shot on goal in the second period, and a small ripple of chuckles rose from the crowd when the second-period shots on goal were announced: "Boston 19, Florida 1." It was the fifth time this year that an NHL team has had one shot on goal in a period, according to STATS Inc.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Ray Emery made 22 saves in his first start against his former team, and Danny Briere scored two goals to help Philadelphia beat Ottawa.
Blair Betts, James Van Riemsdyk and Darroll Powe also scored for the Flyers in their fifth straight victory. Mike Fisher scored for Ottawa.
Emery was cut loose by Ottawa after the 2007-08 season, the year after he led the Senators to the Stanley Cup finals. He played in Russia last season.
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Ryan Malone tied it with 14.7 seconds left in regulation, and Vincent Lecavalier and Steven Stamkos scored in the shootout for Tampa Bay.
Malone tied it 3 on a backhander during a power play with Lightning goalie Antero Niittymaki off the ice for an extra skater.
Stamkos had a goal and an assist in regulation, and Steve Downie also scored. Benoit Pouliot, Kim Johnsson and Owen Nolan scored for Minnesota.
DETROIT (AP) - Henrik Zetterberg scored midway through the third period and Jimmy Howard made 31 saves for Detroit.
Tomas Holmstrom and Niklas Kronwall also scored for Detroit.
Roberto Luongo made 26 saves for Vancouver in his first start since aggravating a broken rib against Detroit on Oct. 27. Mason Raymond scored for the Canucks.
NEW YORK (AP) - Ilya Kovalchuk had a goal and two assists in his first game back from a foot injury, and Rich Peverley also had a goal and two assists for Atlanta.
Kovalchuk missed the previous six games.
Evander Kane added a goal and assist, and Colby Armstrong and Maxim Afinogenov also scored in Atlanta's fourth win in six games. Artem Anisimov, Marian Gaborik and Brian Boyle scored for New York.
