TORONTO (AP) -Sidney Crosby scored two power-play goals, and Evgeni Malkin had three assists to help the Pittsburgh Penguins beat Toronto 5-2 on Saturday night.
Crosby's goals, both set up by Malkin, came in the second period to put the defending Stanley Cup champions up 4-1.
Jordan Staal, Matt Cooke and Sergei Gonchar also scored to help the Penguins improve to 4-1-0. Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 18 shots.
Niklas Hagman and Jay Rosehill scored for Toronto (0-3-1).
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Ryan Malone had three goals, including a go-ahead score midway through the third period, for Tampa Bay.
Steve Downie and Paul Ranger also scored for the Lightning, who stopped a 12-game losing streak - including four losses in overtime or a shootout - dating to last season. Eric Staal and Rod Brind'Amour scored for Carolina.
BOSTON (AP) - Blake Wheeler and Marc Savard scored in the shootout after Boston Bruins rallied with three goals in the final 8:01 of regulation.
Jon Sim, Radek Martinek and John Tavares scored second-period goals for New York, but Mark Savard, Byron Bitz and Matt Hunwick countered for Boston to force overtime.
PHILADELPHIA(AP) - Teemu Selanne scored the only goal in a shootout, and had two third-period goals - the last with 16 seconds left - for Anaheim.
Chris Pronger scored his first goal with the Flyers after spending three years in Anaheim and helping the Ducks win the 2007 Stanley Cup title. Mike Richards also scored his NHL-best sixth goal of the season.
DETROIT (AP) - Thomas Holmstrom broke a tie with a power-play goal with 6:53 left, and Ville Leino and Jason Williams also scored for Detroit.
Valtteri Filppula had two assists, and Chris Osgood made 21 saves. Matt Bradley and Brendan Morrison scored for Washington.
CHICAGO (AP) - Andrew Ladd scored on a high shot in the ninth round of the shootout to give Chicago the victory in its home opener.
Jonathan Toews, Kris Versteeg and Tomas Kopecky also connected in the shootout, while Milan Hejduk, Marek Svatos and Darcy Tucker scored for Colorado in the tiebreaker. Ladd, Cam Barker and Duncan Keith scored in regulation for Chicago, and Matt Hendricks, Wojtek Wolski and Hejduk countered for Colorado.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Mike Grier scored with 3:25 left, and Ryan Miller made 25 saves for his first shutout of the season for Buffalo.
Grier beat Pekka Rinne with a wrist shot through traffic.
Rinne finished with 42 saves.
OTTAWA (AP) - Mike Fisher assisted on Alex Kovalev's first-period goal and added a power-play goal in the second for Ottawa.
Jarkko Ruutu and Chris Neil also scored, and Brian Elliott made 27 saves in his first start of the season for Ottawa. Atlanta's Ilya Kovalchuk scored his fifth goal in three games, and Ron Hainsey added a goal for Atlanta.
SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) - David Clarkson scored a power-play goal with 3:35 left, and Travis Zajac had a goal and an assist for New Jersey.
Rob Niedermayer also scored, and Martin Brodeur stopped 19 shots. Rostislav Olesz and Stephen Weiss scored for Florida.
ST. LOUIS (AP) - Jonathan Quick made 29 saves, and Ryan Smyth and Michal Handzus scored to help Los Angeles win its third straight game.
Alex Steen scored a short-handed goal for the Blues, who dropped their second straight game at home after opening the season two wins over Detroit in Sweden.
GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Rick Nash and R.J. Umberger scored goals, and Mathieu Garon stopped 36 shots for his first shutout with Columbus.
Nash scored an even-strength goal midway through the first period and Umberger iced the game with an empty-netter with 17 seconds left.
EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) - Nikolai Khabibulin made 32 saves, and Mike Comrie, Jean-Francois Jacques and Patrick O'Sullivan scored for Edmonton.
