NEWARK, N.J. (AP) -Martin Brodeur is closing in on another record.

In his first appearance since breaking the NHL victory record, Brodeur made 35 saves in the New Jersey Devils' 4-0 win over the Minnesota Wild on Friday night for his 101st shutout, just two behind Terry Sawchuk's mark.

Patrik Elias scored twice, giving him 30 for the season, and Brian Gionta and Johnny Oduya added goals to help the Devils extend their team-record home winning streak to 11.

The focus was again squarely on Brodeur as the Devils rebounded from an emotional letdown Wednesday night in a 4-2 loss in Carolina with backup Kevin Weekes in goal. That came a night after Brodeur earned his 552nd win to break Patrick Roy's record.

ATLANTA (AP) - Marian Hossa scored his 36th goal for Detroit in his first game in Atlanta since the Thrashers traded him to Pittsburgh last season, and Johan Franzen had a goal and two assists for the Red Wings.

Brian Rafalski, Pavel Datsyuk, Jiri Hudler and Daniel Cleary also scored for Detroit. Bryan Little, Colin Stuart and Slava Kozlov scored for Atlanta.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Sidney Crosby and NHL scoring leader Evgeni Malkin each had a goal and an assist for Pittsburgh.

Marc-Andre Fleury made 24 saves, and Tyler Kennedy and Bill Guerin added goals. The Penguins, tied with Philadelphia for fourth in the Eastern Conference, have won three straight to improve to 12-1-3 under interim coach Dan Bylsma.

Michal Handzus scored for Los Angeles.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Former Buffalo captain Daniel Briere scored twice in 2:05 span in the second period for Philadelphia.

Mike Richards had a power-play goal and two assists, Simon Gagne, Mike Knuble and Jeff Carter also scored, and Martin Biron made 39 saves. Philadelphia remained tied with Pittsburgh for fourth place in the Eastern Conference.

Thomas Vanek, Dominic Moore, Derek Roy, and Chris Butler scored for Buffalo.

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Chad LaRose and Matt Cullen each scored two goals, and Carolina extended its home winning streak to seven games.

The Hurricanes jumped to sixth in the Eastern Conference, a point ahead of the New York Rangers and two in front of Montreal.
