NEWARK, N.J. (AP) -Zach Parise had two goals and an assist and the New Jersey Devils made life easy for Martin Brodeur in his second game back from elbow surgery, routing the Florida Panthers 7-2 on Saturday.
Brodeur, who shut out Colorado on Thursday night in his return from a 50-game layoff, made 15 saves for his 546th career victory - five short of tying Patrick Roy's NHL record. The four-time Vezina Trophy winner extended his shutout streak to almost five periods before Ville Peltonen scored late in the second period.
Parise has 38 goals this season. Brendan Shanahan, Travis Zajac, Brian Rolston, David Clarkson and Dainius Zubrus also scored for the Devils. The win was the seventh in nine games for New Jersey.
BOSTON (AP) - Alexander Semin scored on a slap shot from just inside the red line 22 seconds into overtime to lift Washington past Boston in a matchup of the top teams in the Eastern Conference.
Alex Ovechkin scored his NHL-leading 45th goal for the Capitals, eight points behind first-place Boston. Tomas Fleischmann and Nicklas Backstrom added goals, and Jose Theodore made 34 saves.
Boston's Zedeno Chara scored his 100th career goal with 4:37 left in regulation to force overtime. Phil Kessel had a goal and an assist, and Matt Hunwick also scored for the Bruins. Boston lost at home for just the fourth time in its last 27 games.
MONTREAL (AP) - Andrei Markov and Saku Koivu each had a goal and an assist in Montreal's three-goal first period.
Josh Gorges also scored in the first for Montreal, which beat Brian Boucher three times in a 6:42 span to take a 3-0 lead. Jaroslav Halak made 44 saves to win his fourth straight start for the Canadiens.
Joe Pavelski and Joe Thornton drew San Jose within one just 1:55 into the second when they scored goals 49 seconds apart.
NEW YORK (AP) - Ryan Callahan and Nikolai Zherdev scored in the first 68 seconds, and the Rangers busted out of their offensive doldrums to give coach John Tortorella his first win with New York.
After a pair of 2-1 losses in Tortorella's first two games since taking over for the fired Tom Renney, the Rangers routed Colorado to jump two points in front of Florida into sixth place in the Eastern Conference.
Petr Prucha and Scott Gomez also scored in New York's second four-goal first period, and Chris Drury and Markus Naslund added goals. Henrik Lundqvist made 23 saves, allowing only Ryan Smyth's goal.
DALLAS (AP) - Corey Perry scored the tying goal in the third period, Teemu Selanne added the winner 1:31 later and Anaheim handed Dallas its fourth straight home loss.
Andrew Ebbett had a goal and two assists, and Scott Niedermayer added a goal for the Ducks, 3-2 on a six-game trip. Mike Ribeiro had two goals and an assist, and Matt Niskanen added a goal and an assist for Dallas, 1-4 on a six-game homestand.
OTTAWA (AP) - Pavel Kubina scored his second of the game 33 seconds into overtime, and Curtis Joseph made 29 saves for Toronto for his second win of the season.
Kubina tied it with just over 5 minutes remaining with a power-play goal. Jamal Mayers and Tim Stapleton, playing in just his second NHL game, also scored for the Maple Leafs. Ryan Shannon, Jarkko Ruutu and Daniel Alfredsson scored for Ottawa.
ATLANTA (AP) - Rich Peverley scored two of Atlanta's four third-period goals, and Ilya Kovalchuk had two goals and three assists,
Carolina, which had won seven of nine, remained tied with Buffalo for the eighth place in the Eastern Conference.
Kari Lehtonen made 32 saves, and Todd White added a goal for Atlanta. Tuomo Ruutu, Sergei Samsonov and Anton Babchuk scored for Carolina.
UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) - Yann Danis made 31 saves for his second straight shutout at home, and Sean Bergenheim scored twice for New York.
The Sabres remained tied with Carolina for eighth place in the Eastern Conference.
