NEW YORK (AP) -Mike Green scored twice to tie the NHL record for defenseman with goals in seven straight games, but the slumping New York Rangers overcame that and beat the Washington Capitals 5-4 in a shootout to snap a five-game losing streak.
Green tied the record set by Boston's Mike O'Connell in 1983-84.
Ryan Callahan, who had a goal and assist, netted the shootout winner in the fourth round with a shot that hit the crossbar and then found its way in after hitting goalie Jose Theodore's skates. Nigel Dawes also scored in the shootout for the Rangers, but Alex Ovechkin forced the extra round with a goal.
Lauri Korpikoski, Markus Naslund and Paul Mara also had goals for the Rangers, who hadn't scored more than three in their previous six games and had been outscored 22-5 during their 0-4-1 skid. Henrik Lundqvist made 26 saves.
Tomas Fleischmann and Eric Fehr also scored for Washington.
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Zach Parise had two goals, including the winner, and added two assists to help the New Jersey Devils win for the 11th time in 13 games.
Parise has a career-high 34 goals, two more than he had last season.
Jamie Langenbrunner also scored twice, the second into an empty net, and defenseman Paul Martin had three assists in New Jersey's fourth straight win over New York this season. Kevin Weekes made 23 saves in picking up his fourth straight win.
Radek Martinek and Kyle Okposo scored for New York.
ATLANTA (AP) - Patrick Sharp and Jonathan Toews scored power-play goals, and Nikolai Khabibulin made 36 saves for Chicago.
