COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -Steve Mason stopped 18 shots for his NHL-leading seventh shutout of the season, making fellow rookie Jake Voracek's second-period goal stand up in the Columbus Blue Jackets' 1-0 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Friday night.
Mason, who didn't start the season with the Blue Jackets, is 19-11-2 with a league-best 1.98 goals-against average in 32 games. He's fifth in save percentage (.928), has allowed two or fewer goals in 19 of his past 27 starts - and has turned the sad-sack Blue Jackets into playoff contenders for the first time in their eight years.
Voracek redirected Michael Peca's point shot at 3:55 of the second period.
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Jamie Langenbrunner tied it with 31 seconds left in regulation, then scored late in overtime to give New Jersey its eighth straight victory.
Langenbrunner also scored in overtime Thursday night in Boston.
Bobby Holik and Brendan Shanahan also scored. Sidney Crosby, Maxime Talbot and Evgeni Malkin scored for Pittsburgh, up 3-1 with 11:25 to go in the third.
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Jeff Carter scored twice in a third period to take the NHL goal lead, and Mike Richards had two goals and an assist for Philadelphia.
With his 31st and 32nd goals, Carter moved one ahead of Washington's Alex Ovechkin for the NHL lead. Randy Jones and Scott Hartnell also scored to help Philadelphia win for the third time in four games. Vinny Prospal scored for Tampa Bay.
