UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) -Tim Thomas made 40 saves, and Marc Savard and Martin St. Pierre scored goals to help the Boston Bruins win their fourth straight game, 2-1 over the New York Islanders on Thursday night.
Thomas was on the verge of his fourth shutout of the season, but Bill Guerin swept in a rebound with 53.2 seconds left.
With the victory, the Bruins moved a point ahead of San Jose for the overall NHL lead. The Sharks faced Calgary at home later Thursday night.
Yann Danis stopped 25 shots for New York. The Islanders have lost six straight.
VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) - Joakim Lindstrom scored the first two goals for Phoenix to help spoil star goalie Roberto Luongo's return to the Vancouver lineup.
Keith Yandle and Peter Mueller also scored, and Ilya Bryzgalov made 31 saves.
Luongo, back in goal after missing eight weeks because of a groin injury, made 27 saves. Daniel Sedin scored for the Canucks.
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Martin St. Louis, Andrej Meszaros and Ryan Craig scored during a 2:03 span of the second period, and Vincent Lecavalier scored on a penalty shot.

DALLAS (AP) - Jason Pominville beat Marty Turco with a wrist shot in the sixth round of the shootout, and Ryan Miller turned aside five of six attempts for Buffalo.
Jere Lehtinen connected for Dallas in the fifth round, but Buffalo's Derek Roy extended the tiebreaker when he backhanded the puck past Turco.
Paul Gaustad scored twice in regulation for the Sabres, and Clarke MacArthur and Jochen Hecht also scored. Matt Niskanen, Steve Ott, Trevor Daley and Brad Richards countered for the Stars.
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Tomas Kaberle scored the go-ahead goal on a power play late in the third period after Toronto blew a four-goal lead.
