RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -Blake Wheeler scored twice in the second period, and Michael Ryder broke a tie with 6:14 left to help the Boston Bruins win their seventh straight game, 4-2 over the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night.

Chuck Kobasew added an empty-net goal for Eastern Conference-leading Boston.

Matt Cullen and Anton Babchuk scored for Carolina.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Andrei Kostitsyn had his first career hat trick, and Carey Price made 32 saves for Montreal, 3-0-1 in its past four games.

After missing two games because of a minor leg injury, Kostitsyn scored twice in the first period and had the winner in the third.

Tomas Plekanec added two assists for Montreal, 3-0-1 in its past four games.

Sidney Crosby and Pascal Dupuis each had a goal and an assist for Pittsburgh.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Rookie Steve Mason made 20 saves for his third shutout, and Columbus' first victory over Philadelphia in franchise history.

Mason improved to 10-7-1 and lowered his NHL-best goals-against average to 1.87.

Jan Hejda and Andrew Murray scored in the first period, and Manny Malhotra completed the scoring in the second. Columbus is 1-4-3 against Philadelphia.

NEW YORK (AP) - Travis Zajac had a goal and two assists to help New Jersey break out of a team-record scoreless drought.

The Devils were blanked in their previous two games and went seven periods without a goal - spanning a New Jersey record of 159 minutes, 18 seconds - before Brian Rolston ripped a slap shot past Henrik Lundqvist 2:54 in during a power play.

Patrik Elias and Zach Parise each had a goal an assist for the Devils, 13-4-1 in their past 18. Nigel Dawes and defenseman Dmitri Kalinin scored for the Rangers.

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Brad Winchester tied it for St. Louis in the second period, and scored the deciding goal on his first shootout chance of the season.

David Perron added his first goal in 19 games and also scored in the shootout for St. Louis, which had lost seven of its previous eight. The Blues ended a seven-game losing streak against the Sharks.

Jonathan Cheechoo and Mike Grier each had a goal and assist, and Joe Thornton had two assists for the Sharks, 27-4-4 but only 2-2-1 in their last five games.

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Vincent Lecavalier scored twice, and Martin St. Louis had a goal and three assists to help Tampa Bay win its third straight game.

Steven Stamkos, Evgeny Artyukhin and Ryan Malone also scored for the Lightning, coming off a 4-3 shootout victory Friday night at Florida.

David Booth had two goals and an assist, and Nathan Horton and Stephen Weiss also scored for the Panthers.

DALLAS (AP) - Mike Modano scored at 3:24 of overtime after setting up Dallas teammate Mike Ribeiro's tying goal with 1:04 left in regulation.

Modano, the career goals leader among U.S.-born players with 540, scored on a one-timer from the top of the right circle off a pass from Brad Richards.

Just seconds after Dallas pulled goalie Marty Turco, Ribeiro beat Jean-Sebastien Giguere from the left circle to tie it at 3.

Richards and James Neal also scored for Dallas. Brendan Morrison scored two goals in the third, and Chris Kunitz also scored.

DENVER (AP) - Peter Budaj stopped all three shots in the shootout for Colorado, and Wojtek Wolski scored the lone goal in the tiebreaker.

Wolski has converted on six of seven shootout attempts this season.

Budaj finished with 41 saves.

Ruslan Salei, Ryan Smyth and John-Michael Liles scored power-play goals to stake Colorado to a 3-0 lead after the opening period, but Pavel Datsyuk, Tomas Holmstrom and Johan Franzen helped the Red Wings rally to tie it in the second period.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Ales Kotalik and Drew Stafford scored shootout goals for Buffalo, and Ryan Miller stopped both of New York's attempts in the tiebreaker.

Miller finished with 32 saves, and the Sabres earned the full two points in the standings after the Islanders tied it game with two goals in the final 1:34.

Jochen Hecht and Jason Pominville scored power-play goals, and Clarke MacArthur also scored for Buffalo. Jeff Tambellini, Mike Comrie, and Chris Campoli scored for New York (11-21-4), which snapped a 10-game losing streak Friday night at home with a victory over Toronto. Joey MacDonald made 34 saves.

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Jonathan Quick made 30 saves for his second shutout in three games for Los Angeles, and Alexander Frolov scored twice.

Jarret Stoll had a goal and an assist, and Raitis Ivanans added a goal for the Kings. Ilya Bryzgalov made 26 saves for the Coyotes.
