Chicago Blackhawks

Patrick Kane
remains in NHL COVID-19 protocol and did not play in a 6-3 loss to the Detroit Red Wings at home Sunday.
"We're just in a situation right now where a bunch of stuff is happening at once," coach Jeremy Colliton said after the morning skate. "We're the team that's dealing with it right now. It's not saying another team won't have to deal with it later on. If they end up changing the protocols, then we will adjust. For now, these are the rules, and we got to find a way to perform."
Chicago forward
Jujhar Khaira
, defenseman
Riley Stillman
and assistant coach Marc Crawford entered COVID-19 protocol Sunday, and forward Ryan Carpenter and defenseman Erik Gustafsson were removed. Kane, Carpenter and Gustafsson each missed practice Saturday in protocol.
Kane leads the Blackhawks with five points (one goal, four assists) in five games this season.
"Obviously it's a big loss, you know," said forward Dominik Kubalik, who scored in the loss to Detroit. "He's a huge part of our team, huge part of the power play, but we have to stick together. We have a lot of good guys who can produce, too, so it's all about us. We don't really focus on them. The focus has to be on us and playing the right way."
Reese Johnson was recalled from Rockford of the American Hockey League on Saturday. The forward was minus-1 with two shots on goal and four hits in 11:39 in his season debut with Chicago.
Ian Mitchell was recalled Sunday. The defenseman had one shot on goal and one hit in 8:58 in his second game of the season with the Blackhawks. -- Tracey Myers and Bruce Miles

Ottawa Senators

Matt Murray was placed on injured reserve.
The goalie was injured Saturday trying to prevent New York Rangers forward Chris Kreider's goal at 14:37 of the third period when Kreider's knee clipped his head on the play. Murray left the game, and Anton Forsberg allowed two goals on three shots in relief. The Senators lost 3-2 after leading 2-0.
"I think it's more his neck," Senators coach D.J. Smith said. "He was unable to continue."
Goalie
Filip Gustavsson
was recalled from Belleville of the American Hockey League. The Senators host the Washington Capitals on Monday (7 p.m. ET; SN1, RDS, NBCSWA+, ESPN+, NHL LIVE).
Smith confirmed that Shane Pinto (upper body) is out at least one week. The forward left in the first period of a 2-1 loss to the San Jose Sharks on Thursday after a hit from defenseman Brent Burns. He returned in the second period before leaving after one shift.
"We don't have a timeline," Smith said. "We think it's a little better than originally thought. He's at this point probably at least a week or two. We'll see as we go."
Forward Parker Kelly, who replaced Pinto against New York, was reassigned to Belleville.

Dallas Stars

John Klingberg is expected to play at the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday (7 p.m. ET; BSOH, BSSW, ESPN+, NHL LIVE).
The defenseman was injured early in the first period of the season opener at the New York Rangers on Oct. 14 and has missed the past four games.
"He moves the puck so well, hopefully we spend less time in our zone," Stars coach Rick Bowness said. "He has offense, which we need badly. Joining the rush, so he's a big impact player offensively. The power play was good last game. It struggled without him for a while, so he'll improve that as well."
Forwards Jason Robertson (upper body) and Blake Comeau (upper body) each practiced Sunday but will not travel to Columbus. Neither has played this season after being injured during the preseason.
"At least they're out there with the group right now, so that's progress," Bowness said. "They're day to day, so maybe Wednesday (against the Vegas Golden Knights), maybe Friday (against the Ottawa Senators)." -- Taylor Baird

New York Rangers

Forwards Kaapo Kakko and
Ryan Strome
could be available to the Rangers as soon as their home game against the Calgary Flames on Monday (7 p.m. ET; SNW, MSG, ESPN+, NHL LIVE).
Kakko wore a non-contact jersey and did not take part in line rushes during practice Sunday. He sustained an upper-body injury during a 3-1 win against the Montreal Canadiens on Oct. 16.
Strome was the center on the second line with Artemi Panarin and Barclay Goodrow. He's been in NHL COVID-19 protocol since Oct. 15.
"We'll know more tomorrow with the protocols and that," Rangers coach Gerard Gallant said. "They're day to day. I can't say they're going play tomorrow for sure or not. Hopefully. There's a chance for both of them, but I'm not sure."
