Boston Bruins

Goalie Jeremy Swayman is week to week with a lower-body injury, coach Jim Montgomery said.
The Bruins announced later Thursday that defenseman Derek Forbort will be out 4-6 weeks after having an open reduction and internal fiaxtion surgery on his right middle finger.
Each was injured during Boston's 6-5 overtime win at the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday; Swayman at 5:42 of the second period when Bruins center Patrice Bergeron fell into him and Forbort in the first blocking a shot.
The Bruins recalled goalie Keith Kinkaid from Providence of the American Hockey League on an emergency basis Wednesday. Kinkaid served as the backup for Linus Ullmark when Boston visited the New York Rangers on Thursday.
Mike Reilly replaced Forbort. Reilly was a healthy scratch the past three games.
Montgomery also said forwards David Krejci and Craig Smith, each out because of an upper-body injury, are day to day. Neither played Thursday, but could when Boston visits the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday.

Ottawa Senators

Cam Talbot played for the first time this season in relief when the Senators hosted the Vegas Golden Knights at Canadian Tire Centre on Thursday.
Talbot, who broke his rib during training camp, relieved Anton Forsberg in the second period with Ottawa trailing 5-1. He was expected to be out 5-7 weeks when the injury was announced Oct. 3.
"It feels good," Talbot said. "It's a grind. You never know when these things are actually going to heal themselves. There's nothing you can do to hurry the process along. I just tried to stay ready, stay in shape and it's good to be back out there with the boys finally."
Senators coach D.J. Smith said Talbot could start against the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday.
"The plan is, we've got to get him playing," Smith said. "He's an all-star goalie and he hasn't played through the opening 10 games. We've got to get him in some games. We know he can help us, and he'll give us a bit of confidence when he gets in there."
Talbot was acquired in a trade with the Minnesota Wild on July 12. He was 32-12-4 with a 2.76 goals-against average, .911 save percentage and three shutouts in 49 games (48 starts) with the Wild last season and 0-1 with a 4.15 GAA and .846 save percentage in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Forsberg has started eight of the Senators' nine games this season (4-5-0), and has missed multiple practices to manage fatigue and a nagging injury.
"He's been holding us in those games and giving us a chance to win every night," Talbot said of Forsberg. "It'll be nice to give him a break coming up. I'm sure he's looking forward to that as well." -- Callum Fraser

Montreal Canadiens

Joel Edmundson made his season debut for the Canadiens against the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday.
The defenseman missed the first 10 games of the season with a lower-body injury.
Edmundson, who was paired with defenseman Arber Xhekaj, had six points (three goals, three assists) in 24 games with Montreal last season.

Winnipeg Jets

Morgan Barron will have wrist surgery Friday. The forward is expected to be out 4-5 weeks.
Barron last played in the Jets' 2-1 overtime loss to the Vegas Golden Knights on Sunday, and practiced Tuesday but not Wednesday. Coach Rick Bowness said the injury is something that's been lingering for some time.
"He's been dealing with it," Bowness said. "It's a small bone in there and Morgan played with it, but the more it gets aggravated. For the team he was sucking it up and playing through it, but it gets to a point where it affects the way you play and you're not as effective for your team. So let's get it fixed."
Barron has four points (one goal, three assists) in nine games, and is averaging 1:18 per game on the penalty kill, tied for third-most among Winnipeg forwards.
Bowness also said forward Nikolaj Ehlers was progressing from an undisclosed injury but wasn't ready to put a timetable on when he could play again.
Ehlers hasn't played since Oct. 17 and will miss his eighth straight game.
"It's improving slower than we had hoped but it is improving," Bowness said. "To put a timeline on it, no. But at least there's progress. We would hope that it would come around quicker, but it's not. But there's progress."
