LAS VEGAS (AP) - The NHL Awards have begun in Sin City as the league honors its best in glammed-up fashion.

Hundreds of fans lined up inside and outside the Palms Casino Resort on Wednesday to catch glimpses of their favorite hockey players walking the red carpet.

Once inside, players waited to hear whether they would be among those honored for scoring, defense and sportsmanship, among other categories for the just completed season.

Vancouver's Daniel Sedin is attempting to follow twin brother and teammate Henrik as NHL MVP. If so, the back-to-back league scoring champions would be the first set of brothers to win the Hart Trophy in consecutive years.

Comedian Jay Mohr served as host, with live performances from music stars Dierks Bentley and Far East Movement.
