LAS VEGAS - Right wing Nikita Kucherov and goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy of the Tampa Bay Lightning, runaway winner of the Presidents' Trophy as the League's top regular-season team with an NHL record-tying 62 wins, head the list of players voted to the 2018-19 NHL First All-Star Team. Kucherov, who earlier today captured the Hart Trophy as NHL MVP and Ted Lindsay Award for most outstanding player as selected by the NHLPA at the 2019 NHL Awards, earned his second career berth on the First Team. Vasilevskiy, who received the Vezina Trophy as top goaltender, was voted to the First Team for the first time.

Joining Kucherov and Vasilevskiy on the First Team is Washington Capitals left wing Alex Ovechkin, who earned his eighth career berth on the First Team and first since 2014-15. Also a four-time honoree on the Second Team, Ovechkin's 12 career postseason All-Star Team selections are the most among active players.
Seven of Ovechkin's eight career First Team berths have come at left wing (he was voted to the First Team at right wing in 2012-13). The only left wings in NHL history with more First Team selections are Bobby Hull (10) and Ted Lindsay (8).

Completing the First Team are center Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers, who is making his third career appearance; defenseman Brent Burns of the San Jose Sharks, a two-time recipient; and defenseman Mark Giordano of the Calgary Flames, a first-time honoree.
Among those named to the Second Team is Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby, voted to his eighth career postseason All-Star berth (4 First Team, 4 Second Team). Ovechkin (12) is the only active player with more.
Goaltender Ben Bishop of the Dallas Stars and defenseman Victor Hedman of the Lightning have landed a spot on the Second Team for the second time, while Washington Capitals defenseman John Carlson, Chicago Blackhawks right wing Patrick Kane and Boston Bruins left wing Brad Marchand are making their first career appearance on the Second Team.
Voting for the All-Star Team is conducted among representatives of the Professional Hockey Writers Association at the end of the regular season.
