News Roundup: Jackets activate Murray

The Columbus Blue Jackets activated center Andrew Murray off injured reserve prior to Saturday's game against Minnesota.

Murray, who was injured Oct. 1 during a preseason game at Washington, has missed the Jackets' first 12 regular-season due to the injury. He has 19 goals and 9 assists for 28 points and 28 penalty minutes in 152 career games with the Blue Jackets. Murray was the Jackets' 11th pick (No. 242) in the 2001 Entry Draft.

Sharks recall Ferriero -- San Jose recalled forward Benn Ferriero from the Worcester Sharks of the AHL on Saturday.

Ferriero is Worcester’s leading scorer this season with 11 goals (7 goals and 4 assists) and 4 penalty minutes in nine games. In 24 career NHL games, all with San Jose, Ferriero has 2 goals, 3 assists and 4 PIM.

Blues activate Nikitin
-- St. Louis activated defenseman Nikita Nikitin, who started the season on injured reserve.

Nikitin, 24, spent seven seasons with Omsk Avangard in Russia. The 6-foot-3, 217-pound defenseman played in 265 games for Omsk totaling 61 points (13 goals and 48 assists) and 219 penalty minutes.

Nikitin was originally drafted by the Blues in the fifth round (No. 136) in the 2004 Entry Draft. He will wear No. 64.
