NYR@OTT: Rangers net three in 3:20 span of 3rd period

OTTAWA --The New York Rangers scored three goals late in the third period for a 3-2 win against the Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre on Saturday.

Trailing 2-0 with less than six minutes remaining, Chris Kreider, Ryan Lindgren and Barclay Goodrow scored in a span of 3:20.
"We're starting to show we have that never-give-up mentality," Goodrow said. "Obviously, we would like to put ourselves in a better position heading into the third, but the resiliency that we did show in kind of forgetting about the first two (periods) and starting the third like it was a fresh game, it's pretty good to see. Nice to know that we have a lot of character in the room."
Alexandar Georgiev made 26 saves for the Rangers (4-1-1), who swept a four-game road trip.
"[Georgiev] was great," Lindgren said. "Obviously, a lot of key saves. In the second period, there were some saves that were for sure goals, and he came across and made some great saves."
Nicholas Paul and Josh Norris scored for the Senators (2-3-0). Anton Forsberg allowed two goals on three shots in relief of Matt Murray (22 saves), who was injured in the third period.
"Real tough," Ottawa coach D.J. Smith said. "[Forsberg] sat [on the bench] all day and then six minutes to go, you're going in there freezing cold. Four-on-4, we just let [Lindgren] stand there and bang one in the back door. You've got to be more desperate at the end of the game and then certainly with a goalie that hasn't seen a shot all night."
Kreider tapped in a cross-ice pass from Artemi Panarin on the power play to cut it to 2-1 at 14:37. Murray left the game and did not return after Kreider's knee clipped his head on the play. There was no update on Murray after the game.

NYR@OTT: Paul scores 41 seconds in on transition play

Lindgren finished a cross-ice pass from Adam Fox at the edge of the crease to tie it 2-2 at 15:52 on a 4-on-4.
"It just goes to show that when you're down 2-0 like that, late in a game, you never know what could happen," Lindgren said. "We get a power play and that gets us on the board, and we just never stopped fighting. I think that's such a big component of our team; we've got 20 guys out there that compete and never believe that we're out of games."
Goodrow tipped a shot from Sammy Blais for a 3-2 lead at 17:57.
"After the second period, we knew we weren't playing the best," Goodrow said. "We knew that we were going to have to string together a good 20 (minutes) to even have a chance to tie it up or come out with the win, so I felt like we really put our work boots on in the third period."
Paul took a centering pass from Tim Stutzle and scored with a snap shot from the slot to give the Senators a 1-0 lead 41 seconds into the first period.
"That's a game we should've had," Paul said. "Not the greatest third and we let the momentum swing."
Norris scored on a 4-on-4 with a wrist shot from the top of the right face-off circle, which went under Georgiev's right pad, to make it 2-0 at 1:04 of the third.
"I thought we carried the play for 54 minutes," Smith said. "Made some bad plays and ultimately end up losing a game that you shouldn't lose."
